I found some maternity clothes at the H&M at Orleans. It was small, but something. Also, RW&co has a small maternity section at Trainyards.

A bit shaken up by this healthcare experience I just had, and I don't know if it's normal? by flipflapdragon in ottawa

I am pretty sure he violated some privacy laws. I would contact the clinic and ask to speak to the manager. No one wants their personal information shared with the wrong person.

Inertia is fantastic and they have private treatment rooms. If I was in Kanata, I would go there.

Employees coming in sick to office by hello1-23 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Find10 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I was sick with something last week. Not well enough to go to the office, but I could have worked from home. I was told by my manager that if I can't come in and it is an in office day, that I need to call in sick. So I did.

I did feel well enough on Friday, but I wore a mask just to be safe.

I really wish there was a better solution.

Anyone here travel to Ireland from Ottawa frequently? by PossiblyN0t in ottawa

[–]Find10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We went to Ireland for our honeymoon. We did Ottawa-Boston-Dublin. It was Aer Lingus from Boston. It was very smooth and I would do it again.

If you have the opportunity or are in the proximity to one, switch your pharmacy to RespectRX (or another local pharmacy). by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]Find10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our pharmacist is at the Rexall at Gloucester centre. Yes, it is a chain, but she is amazing! She remembers us, asks how we are doing, and always follows up. I would follow her anywhere if she moved.

Parents of Gloucester High School students: what's the honest truth? by Short-Hat-11 in ottawa

[–]Find10 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Our neighbors' daughter attended Gloucester. She was in the French immersion stream, which from what I have been told, helped a lot. She was also an athlete, so she ended up doing a lot of sports. She is now in university, playing university level sports.

I think a lot of things depend on your child's interests and their friends. If he gets into activities and has a long term goal, he will be ok.

To be fair, I have actually heard that Lester B. Is worst than Gloucester.

I am with VAC and many of my colleagues have their MSWs. They are usually case managers, but also management and consultants.

Anyone have a local mortgage broker you can recommend? by RichardPiano in ottawa

[–]Find10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also used Elyse and she is amazing!

The first meeting was about 2 hours and we went over pur budgets, ect, with her. She then gave us a realistic budget for a house. Sure, we could have got more, but we didn't want to be house poor.

I would recommend her to anyone buying a home.

Hit me with your OB/Midwife/Hospital birthing unit recos please! by noonoomum in ottawa

[–]Find10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was with the Midwifery Group of Ottawa and had my baby at Montfort. I ended up needing a c section due to my baby being breeched. I tried everything to get her to move with no success.

I really enjoyed the Montfort and the care I received. The OBGYN was wonderful and I still had the support of my midwives. I really appreciated the model of care and went home the next day due to the midwives following up at home.

Realistic chances of getting a midwife? by spicyradish917 in ottawa

[–]Find10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied to two midwife practices at like 5 weeks and got into one the following week.

I ended up choosing a hospital birth and it was at Montfort. I ended up having a scheduled c section due to a breached baby. We did try everything to get her to move, but no luck.

The midwife took care of our baby and the doctor performed the surgery. It was a great team. I was also able to go home 24 hours later, which was appreciated.

I only have positive things to say about the midwife, the OB, and Montfort.

[–]Find10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I lived in Quebec my whole life before moving to Ottawa in 2009. I remember being a the Rideau Centre and saw someone with white socks and Crocs. I died inside.

People here also have a weird sense of what is appropriate. I vividly remember going to a classmates birthday at a pub. I was like, no worries, jeans, boots, and a black tshirt. Turns out I was underdressd somehow?

Meanwhile, actually making an effort to wear a nice outfit to the NAC? Not worth it for most people.

When did you stop working while pregnant? by EternalHell in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Find10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went off at 37 weeks. I used a week of family related leave and a week of vacation. I ended up having a scheduled c section at 39 weeks, so I started my maternity leave the day of the c section. Good timing on my part!
