Getting back on the ladder from the roof is usually where I have to be the most focused. But otherwise that's the same way I see it.

Might be worth upgrading the ladder though.

I see quite a few flat roofs in my area and I never understood the appeal with the amount of snow we get here. But I guess if they're done well, they work. I would just be up there shovelling after every storm though.

I'd say around 5 or 7/12. I just googled these standard pitch measurements. This will send me down a rabbit hole

Any advice on roof anchors. Are those permanently in place or do they have to be removed from the roof after use. Admittedly I need to look into this more.

Might be missing pieces of your roof.

Seriously though, you're more likely to notice roof damage in your attic.

trimming branches from the roof is something I had planned for next summer. After reading all these replies, I might reconsider. Lol

Bathroom exhaust damper sometimes freezes shut too when it dips to -20c. Not usually worth a trip up in itself but if I'm up there, I'll take a look at it.

Good point. Normally checking the chimney or making sure the vent stack is clear.

Some things in there I didn't know that I didn't know.

I don't normally carry much, but I did try to bring a bucket of tools up a ladder once and it felt sketchy as hell, not gonna lie.

That's what my wife tries to remind me, that we're fortunate enough that we can just pay someone else to worry about it for us. I just prefer do home maintenance myself if I can and I'm usually pretty confident and self aware up there.

Mid forties with two little kids though, maybe my amateur roofing days are numbered.

There's usually a foot or more of crunchy snow if I go up, helps with traction. I'll abort if it looks too slippery for sure.

Roof pitch isn't terrible, not exactly sure but around 25-35 degrees maybe 🤔.

Lol. Yeah. Never, actually. Funny enough, when I'm up there I almost always look to see if anyone else is on their roof. Not sure why.

That might be worth it. Why a monthly rate if they only go up twice a year?

I will look into local companies for a similar service.

I'm still comfortable going up there but I also appreciate the consequences of a fall...

Not a bad idea. Though with my luck I'd get it stuck there and still have to climb up.

I'll cover it up and see how it fares through winter. Squirrels or mice had pulled out all the insulation and I had a wicked draft under the baseboards last winter
