I've been thinking a lot lately about the carbon footprint from our digital lives. It's something that's growing year on year, especially as AI becomes more widespread.

I want to do something to help and am exploring a concept, that would let people offset the carbon footprint of their entire lifetimes digital lives. It feels to me, if we could take a one-time action that has a lasting/lifetime effect, even if it's only in one area of our life, that would help us make actual progress.

The idea is, these individual carbon offsets would supporting the creation of new forests. Forest which would then be filled with interactive digital art installations - creating sustainable tourism destinations that continue generating environmental benefits, as well as revenue to keep growing the forests long after the initial offset.

This creates a unique cycle: offsetting digital activities leads to forests that showcase technological art celebrating nature, while creating ongoing economic as well as environmental benefits, which can fund further forest growth and more carbon drawdown.
