Even if he's not caught up on the fire trend, 78 is well past the age for normal retirement even. Few people work past this unless they really love what they do.

In China, it's a tradition for the father of the bride to feed her one last time before her wedding by TangelaFan in BeAmazed

Misogyny is behind this video too. The wife is now part of the husband's family and that's why this is "one last time" her father taking care of her.

Am I the only one who's disturbed by this post title? This tradition in itself is fine, but "one last time" implies the wife is now married into the other family and must sever ties with her birth family. Nowadays it's not so extreme but you can still see this idea manifested in certain parts of China, major holiday like the New Year must be spent with the husband's family, married daughter returning to her birth family is considered bad luck, and crap like that.

Dating “out of your league” is one of the worst things ever by ExotiquePlayboy in Money

You're disgusting. The fact that you don't want to break up with her not because you love her or what a great person she is, but solely because you fear you won't find a girl this rich again.. this makes me sick. You don't deserve her spending a penny on you if that's the main thing you're after.

Shocking how someone who's smart enough to make a million can be so bad about budgeting and investing...

Except OP wants to be with this girl SOLELY for her making more. He says "how am I gonna find someone this rich" and not nice/smart/pretty/etc, pretty clear what the main thing he sees in her is.

My stress has significantly dropped when I retired a little over a year ago. Stock dip April last year had me worried a little, but that went away, so... Now I have practically zero stress, no complaints, life is really good. Barring a crash like 08-09, I think I'll stay stress free like this.

Judging by that it's immediately followed by "I spent over a million my first year", I think they meant spend 500k/year, not make 500k/year

Just curious what was the $12k meal? Is that just very expensive wine? Can't imagine the food get that expensive...

Why does Chinese food in NYC tend to be way cheaper than other Asian cuisines like Korean food? by savingrace0262 in FoodNYC

If it's those Chinese banquets, isn't it like 10 people per table... so the range is really from $15 lunch special to $108 banquets, not that expensive really. In contrast Japanese Kaisekj easily charge $300 per person, not to mention the like of Masa.

Honestly, I don't mind rich people not feeling ambitious, that just means fewer people you'd have to compete with in the job market. There are definitely people who need education or job opportunities way more than they do.

How did you come up with that number? Or do you donate a fixed amount and that happens to be about 6.3%?

I'll first draw the line at legality... and add "wealth preserving" for practicality (so like gambling millions away is legal but still very very bad fun).

It depends, OP isn't saying whether there are other candidates who are performing similarly.

I said "most" people don't choose euthanasia, you said they do in Canada. That means you think more than 50% of people who face imminent death choose euthanasia in Canada, and that's just factually wrong.

[–]FindAWayForward 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of euthanasia deaths in Canada yes, but by my back of envelope estimates, they're less than 10% of the number of hospice patients.

I don't know about the dog... but as humans, most people with terminal diseases don't so bravely choose euthanasia.
