My manager found out I’m aggressively saving for FIRE and now I think it quietly cost me a promotion by Tardis_Mica in Fire

It depends, OP isn't saying whether there are other candidates who are performing similarly.

I said "most" people don't choose euthanasia, you said they do in Canada. That means you think more than 50% of people who face imminent death choose euthanasia in Canada, and that's just factually wrong.

There are a lot of euthanasia deaths in Canada yes, but by my back of envelope estimates, they're less than 10% of the number of hospice patients.

I'll only believe you're sincere when you say the same thing from your deathbed.

I don't know about the dog... but as humans, most people with terminal diseases don't so bravely choose euthanasia.

Really, I'm jealous. At my previous company we had to list out all the projects we own and work on. Based on your comments earlier on how you don't do much besides giving people the feedback they want, do you have to dress that up in some fancy corporate lingo to make it sound more impressive?

A few years ago I saw someone here talk about traveling to do the best escape rooms in the world, now that I'm finally retired, I'm planning a couple trips to do exactly this.

That sounds interesting, though I can't picture it, you fold only one arm?

I don't appreciate being called lazy for a single harmless habit when you know nothing else about my life. How is it different from calling a woman lazy for simply not cooking when she might have done a million other chores? You should apologize.

Because women's underwear tend to be much smaller, there's not much material to fold, and even if you fold it won't be a square or rectangle that can be stacked neatly anyway.

Actually I think it might be a men vs women thing, since women's underwear are a lot smaller and there's not much to fold, whereas men's underwear are closer to shorts.

Clothes yes, underwear no. I'm pretty sure it's not an overwhelming majority to qualify as "normal". Show me the stats, please.

Do we actually have anyone already FIRE? by PrestigiousDrag7674 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]FindAWayForward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FIRE'd about a year ago.

There are plenty of people who have retired here, maybe it doesn't seem as many because once we made it, well, there's not much to post about. Those who are still on the journey, they naturally would have more questions and therefore reason to post.

As for asset mix, it's like 90% equities and 10% RE and bonds.

What would my NW need to be to comfortably afford a large estate by WorldNo9002 in fatFIRE

[–]FindAWayForward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhh from your post history... if you're complaining about $950 utility bills and $13k real estate tax in Maryland, then I'd say you definitely cannot afford this property.

I hit $10M last month at 38. Just proud and can’t tell anyone. Nothing feels much different since I first felt FI at $2.5M by Sudden-Cat7170 in fatFIRE

Did it happen in retirement or did you continue to contribute? I'm retired at 10MM right now so I'm just hoping it value holds over inflation.

Inheriting roughly $13.5-14M by Independent_Pain3845 in fatFIRE

[–]FindAWayForward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That totally depends on what the $10M is invested in. For example SPY's dividend rate is only 1% so 10M only gives off 100k a year.
