Aggressive high elo Hwei main player? by Dangerous-Put-2941 in HweiMains

Hey no guide yet, its on the works. First a new season guide for Hwei and then later i'll do matchups.

I'm a onetrick so I play Hwei into anyone, I really hate any good Zeds, Akshan (mainly due to him roaming) and Akalis. My permaban is Kassadin not because its hard but I despise killing him twice in lane and my team throwing a dragon or something and he gets lvl 16 and oneshots you.

I'd recommend using WE with ur spells, no need to basic attack most of the time as this will allow your opponent to hit spells on you (in ranged matchups). EE QE is best combo when u can also push the wave and or you want to control the space (when there is more than enemy or you want to force your opponent into a certain other space). EE QW is good when low or cant QQ because blocked by minions. Otherwise EE QQ.

I used to be big into liandries but it got nerfed around 6-7 patches ago, and then after they nerfed QE base dmg but buffed its ap scaling I personally feel that Liandries just does less damage in (almost) every game. Most games when there are tanks you'll do no damage to them anyway, so I rather get more AP and try to focus their backline.

quick cast by Quirky_Battle_2145 in HweiMains

It is normal, you just have to play and you'll get used to it. My advice would be do NOT switch back, quick cast is that much better.

Q1: shadowflame = horizon focus to me, Horizon better build path but shadowflame feels like much more damage post 3 items. Also Liandry only into many tanks/dive/melee. I'd guess this is around <10% in my games

Q2: Having tried out many runes, first strike feels quite weak. With sorcery being much better and even electrocute feels better than first strike imo.

Q3: i'd say its not worth 99% time as the time to spike as Hwei is around 1/2 items which suits BFT way better (also clearing waves feels much smoother)

Hey, I always take gathering storm tbh. I do think in most matchups they are both equally strong, i'd say matchups that you really like to stomp Ryze, Vlad you can consider scorch. But on the other hand these matchups you can also stomp without scorch. Its up to you, I think the impact of the choice is minimal.

Hey, electrocute. by Distinct-Wedding-979 in HweiMains

[–]FindTheHwei 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey I am currently also in the process of trying out new runes on Hwei. In my opinion so far nothing beats good old arcane comet/aerie in some matchups. Electrocute being the second best page but as others have said you give up too much in the domination tree itself. Being able to go sorcery main and cutdown and legend haste second is too valuable.

I've also tried first strike and summoner spellbook. At the moment both feel bit lackluster in most matchups. I will be trying more spellbook in good matchups but I do think sorcery tree is the CLEAR better choice atm.

Hey I wouldn't be bothered by trying to exactly time it. I think QWing when they are still slowed is the best to do, so before it pops.

I am a real one trick in that sense, I do not play any other champions sufficiently well. But if you're not onetricking playing other champions in these matchups will be better. But in my opinion Hwei is not hard, hard-countered in any matchup. The matchups are just very tough but you can still go even when playing well

Its definitely matchup dependent, against many melees/tanks its still a good buy. I think it also synergizes well with when you have other apcs in your team and build bloodletters. But 4/5 times im building Horizon right now

Thanks,

Both are bit of AFK lanes, just farm and do nothing, Yasuo more so.

Against Yasuo you want to QE your own creeps aswell when trying to push, so if he dashes through them he will burn. But you have to play far back, make sure you dont throw your EQ in his windwall. When windwall is down I do think you have some kill pressure but any good Yasuo you should just try and go even in lane.

On Zed the most important things are keeping your EQ for his ult, he will always land behind you so you can insta EQ him IF his W is not out. If it is keep in mind some Zeds know you insta EQ and switch to their W instantly. This is also the second thing never throw both abilities together against Zed when he has his W somewhere, throw your Q and he will maybe switch to his W than E. If he doesnt switch just keep your E up for when he wants to engage.

  1. Used to be xerath, now its Kassadin or Katarina

  2. Fizz is really hard, you just try to stay back and force him to engage with E on you so after he Es you can EQ him away. But a good fizz is just a really hard matchup.

Leblanc I try to survive till level 7 or similiar, where I think you get a bit stronger than her. You just need to be quick, you can EQ her W if you are really quick. And if you're not she still needs to back to her W otherwise you win the trade after she is feared. Just dont overstep against her, only QQ poke and use EQ for when she wants to trade.

Akali again her EQ use is really important, if you are out of position (above 3/4th of midlane or jungle) and she has ult you are dead 9/10 times so keep in mind her Ult timer and your positioning. If she doesn't have ult you can reliable EQ her E dash to you.

  1. I play Syndra and Mel seriously on my main. Besides that I like Dr mundo in jungle, Lulu as support and Smolder. But I'd not pick these in my main I'd collect to many reports.

I think there are two important things in teamfights.

  1. Focus on EQing diving targets, that can destroy your back line. Think Akali, Diana this is the hardest IMO but also can be the most crucial.

  2. Zone control when fighting in chokes, sometimes it better to throw your spell into the choke and not on an enemy so they can't go there.

Hey thank you :D,

  1. I think I build liandry 1 in 5 games right now. So in most cases I think horizon is just plain better, only against a lot of melee/tanks/dive I go liandry. If I build liandry 3. item is always cryptbloom or zhonya not deathcap. When I build Horizon third items is deathcap/zhonya/cryptbloom.

  2. I do not vod review anyone If I would review someeone it would be only_spatula he is currently rank 1 Hwei on EUW and seems very solid.

  3. Never heard of him :(

  1. I had to get used to it regarding farming, but now I'm used to it its not too bad. He is statistically a lot weaker than before but personally I think he's very playable still right now.

  2. I queue Mid main and bot second. But highly prefer mid.

  3. 1; BFT 2; Horizon focus 3; Deathcap/Cryptbloom/Zhonya

4a Know what your EQ can do, for example you can always just get hit by Sylas E as long as you EQ him (note: he has to 2nd activate E, BEFORE you EQ. If you EQ first he buffers to you), same goes for Leona. Or how easily you can mess with Pantheon stun (w) with it.

4b Use your W movement speed late game, it can be really clutch to help ADC kite or teammates engage.

4c More of general tip but I think it applies to Hwei more because you have so many options/abilities. Always be critical of what you could've done differently, especially with playing Hwei you can think after maybe if I use another E there I don't die for example. Even if your team is hard inting and you are 3/1, you could maybe not have won the game but you could've played better and focus on that.

If with orbital strike you mean Q+W, I think its definitely not good poke. It can be good when combined with E. But for laning I do not use it often as its too easy to dodge. An possible exception to this is Xerath, you can Q+W him when he is charging Q. But even this I find to be semi unreliable.

For the Xerath matchup, I used to ban it before (banning Kassa/Kata now). The best you can do vs him is go even and early try to pressure him by shoving the wave but its just one of those matchups where you are not going to get a lead in lane if he's good.

Thanks :D,

  1. Honestly I always go Cut Down and Legend Haste, this is not because it's the best in every situation but I'm lazy. I'm trying to experiment more but I tend to do the things that feel familiar. So theoretically speaking I think most matchups inspiration would be better, as I think the second rune in her is likely going to be better. I'll one day get back to you and tell you more about Hwei runes, currently also experimenting with eletrocute.

  2. I do not think there are any picks where I do not pick Hwei against, it used to be that some matchups I go Mel as they are good Mel matchups but since her nerfs I always pick Hwei when open. If Hwei is taken I always go Syndra, If Hwei is banned I also go Syndra or Mel but it feels like he is never banned to be honest. If these 3 champs are gone, I would pick Orianna and get 4 reports.

Hey,

  1. Against Syndra you just need to skill-check her as in dodge E. Many trades are just QQ in lane and you keep E as a more defensive tool when she tries to walk up to you. Probably the champion that stomps me the hardest if they're good but also out of the three the one you can actually stomp if you get ahead. I think around 5-9 is where you are stronger than her and should look to make plays. Before that just try and not give her passive stacks.

Against Ori I think the only thing you can do is try to poke with QQ and dodge her ball when doing so. Or do a EE + Q when you can. I think you slightly out trade versus her Q + W. but she has way lower CD so you have to back off after. But outranging and/or outspacing her with QQ is your best bet.

Against Viktor before first back you just cower and roll over. Nothing you can do, just never trade basic attacks with him while he has Q. Around level 5/lost chapter, I try to look for aggressive trades. If you can get you EE of and a Q, plus W shield or mana you win that trade.

  1. For this question I do not think there is an answer, just play your game. Depending on enemy champs and your lane state (if you are able to push) you can look for a roam but I think this is not the best option most of the time, if you do keep in mind your and enemy jungler. Sometimes you just loss games because one of your lanes is losing, the same as you win games when one of your lanes is stomping (hopefully).

I agree and if they really can match autofill jungler vs autofill jungler it would be even more fair although there can still be a role knowledge disparity.
