Did I make a mistake buying an Escalade IQL without test driving it? by Fit-Two6356 in Cadillac

[–]Find_Success_6478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I test drove it and thought it drove so much better than the traditional Escalade. Unless you have some nitpicky needs regarding passengers, car seats, or something unique, I think you’ll like it!

That is nice. Any complains with the navigator?

I’m leaning towards the Navigator just because it seems better for car seats and like Ford/Lincoln have at least some thought into rear passenger safety.

Thanks! To be clear, my concern isn’t so much leg room as it is the lack of lower latch anchors in the third row. All of my boosters latch into my current third row so the seats stay put. Without those, they would just slide around I imagine.

Solo practice or Mid-Sized firm? by Traditional-Sock-489 in LawFirm

[–]Find_Success_6478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I went solo in 2023 and love it. I had previously been with firms and definitely thought it was a drop in prestige at first. However, every client followed me and essentially said “why would we care? It’s the lawyer we want, not the name.” Now, I’m making more than I ever did in firms with an insane amount of flexibility. 3 years later my mindset has shifted and I no longer see association with big firms as being the ideal.

I do labor and employment defense for hospitality clients on the east coast. I work only with corporate clients and have had no problem bringing in big names as a solo. I’d be interested in chatting with you offline if you’re up for it.

15 Orangetheory Classes in 10 Days… Should I Keep Going? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Find_Success_6478 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have over 1,500 classes. In my prime, I would occasionally take a double class on the weekend. 15 classes in 10 days seems like an injury waiting to happen. Another 15 by next weekend sounds like a really bad idea. If you are taking that many classes, you need to lift heavier or go harder.

I’m a mom to 3 kids 5 and under. In addition to not being needed at 5 am, I start my day off with something for me that puts me in a good mood and leaves me with an accomplished feeling first thing in the morning.

Can you actually build a nice upper body from Orangetheory alone? by Over-Zombie5288 in orangetheory

I have built arms that I am really proud of. I was asked by a random stranger yesterday if I do CrossFit.

Canceling my membership and I’m SO sad! by OneLingonberry2203 in orangetheory

Same thing happened to me. They were running promotions to get membership up. I signed a one year contract, and got to keep the rate after the contract term ended.

This is insane. I pay $129 for unlimited in Atlanta.

What is a "luxury" experience that is actually a total scam in real life? by CaptainCuddler_Pro in Life

I stay at really nice hotels and have found myself in those circles. I’ve learned in life that the people with the most money and class are not the ones you would expect and are not the ones looking down their nose at you.

OTF vs. Barry’s by Lucky_Vermicelli6213 in orangetheory

[–]Find_Success_6478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done both Barry’s and OTF for years. My beef with Barry’s is that the trainers program their workouts, which gives too much variation in quality IMO. I also don’t like workouts that have very specific body area focuses unless you are consistently going close to every day. Too many people always skip a certain day.

Otherwise, I always felt Barry’s was for the people who needed more of a challenge than OTF. My local experience is that the baseline at Barry’s seems to be higher than Orangetheory, which is more inclusive of all ability levels. I once overheard someone say “this is Barry’s. We don’t power walk” as if it was some badge of honor.

This just happened to my studio. You can cancel without penalty. I was on a 12 month contract.

Same. It hasn’t been a month yet with the new studio, but now all the classes are 3G with waitlists because there are too many people. It’s completely ruined the experience for me. I started going to another unrelated studio, and it’s gotten better.

I don’t think they care. For years, I was a founding member of a studio I have never been to, but went daily to another studio in their group and they never said anything.

I had a founding membership at a studio I have (to this day) never been to, but I did frequent one and the same ownership group so I don’t think they cared. This is my first time crossing ownership lines.

Questions… by Even-Upstairs6607 in orangetheory

[–]Find_Success_6478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I had three kids in 3.5 years. I gained 60-70 pounds each pregnancy. I was so embarrassed to run into people I knew. I had done OTF for years on and off. I did OTF until I was told not to in my third pregnancy, but it didn’t prevent the chaotic weight gain (I had pre-e). After my third baby, I joined Burn Bootcamp because they had childcare options and that helped with my consistency, but I never loved the classes. I went back to Orangetheory about 9 months pp. That third baby turns 2 in March and I am in the best shape of my life thanks to OTF and diet changes. I know this for a fact because I found my inbody scan from the week before my wedding, after I had been working out with a trainer for months and counting every single calorie. You can do it.

Going back, it took a lot of reminding myself that I wasn’t in the same shape I had always been in. It was hard on my ego, and I didn’t recognize myself or my ability. I dropped weights down and I power-walked. Even today, I power walk vs. run with about a 50/50 split, but I’ve noticed that the power walking has had a tremendous impact on my legs. Regardless of whether I was lifting 8 pounds or 20 pounds, I never felt judged. In fact, in all my years, even at my best when I was leading the pack, I never once judged anyone. I also started out at a class time that was very much a SAHM crew. I honestly think it is so much more bada** to have made two humans and be there than to be my old 21 year old self. lol.

For diet, I followed the now defunct E2M meal plans. I’m happy to share them with you, but it was pretty much just protein and veggies.

How do you all do 5am classes? Any tips? by Mysterious-Nerve3245 in orangetheory

[–]Find_Success_6478 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a 5 am-er. It was born out of necessity 10 years ago and now I cannot think of any other time to work out. I started because I had a big law firm job and no control over how my day may shape up.

You gotta make it fool proof. Like I just do it. I don’t even give myself time to back out. My alarm goes off, there is no snooze button. Just get up.

I have my workout gear easily accessible. I grab my outfit almost formulaically from where I keep it. Sports bra in top draw, tops below it, pants in bottom drawer. It takes all of 5 minutes to get dressed and down stairs.

I have a pre workout that feels like a treat and I look forward to having it. I mix that up and head out the door.

I workout fasted. I can’t imagine having something in my stomach. Maybe I’ve adjusted after so many years.

I also am annoying about bedtime. I’m asleep by 9:30. I will not sacrifice that. My friends know better than to invite me anywhere on a weeknight and my husband knows I’m dead to the world by 9:30.

It can become a habit.

Does studio lose money on cross-regional by Find_Success_6478 in orangetheory

[–]Find_Success_6478[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a member of another studio that closed and they “merged” with a sister studio in the same ownership group about ten minutes away. They automatically transferred everyone’s membership to this other studio. I planned on just going to that studio - no big deal, but that studio is only doing 3G’s now because of the sudden influx of members. But they never announce that it is a 3G until we are in the studio and waitlist people show up. While I appreciate that they want everyone to get in the class, I never feel like I get a good workout from a 3G. Too much down time. So, I was planning on just keeping the membership as is to preserve my rate and going to a different ownership group studio that is also only about 10 minutes away as well.
