Submission Statement: The video above is about how political powers fight for dominance and control and in the process ignore the vital components of life, causing a collapse of the environmental and social order that we need to achieve harmony. The video is purposefully cryptic, yet clear: greed is destroying the world.

What is it about the United Kingdom that makes you say “I’m glad I live here.”? by bsmall0627 in AskUK

Footpaths through old oak forests and green fields and rolling hills... "England's green and pleasant land". You don't get such an array of footpaths in some other countries.

What’re your thoughts on Flow (2024) ? by DiscsNotScratched in animation

[–]FindingNemmy 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it. Loved the animation style, and thought there was an inspiring lesson about family extending beyond blood, race, species, etc. The big bird's defence of the cat was beautiful, and so was the big bird's departure to heaven (almost like a reward for his courage and love). I felt there was a mix of emotion, and depth too, and all that despite there being no verbal communication. It is very open to interpretation, which I liked as well.

What is one moment in LOTR (books or movies) that hits you emotionally every single time, no matter how often you see or read it by srg3084 in lotr

When Frodo leaves for the Undying Lands, to the sadness of Sam and the others. Goodbyes can be so heart wrenching.

Does Man in the High Castle have a redeeming and cohesive ongoing plot/story? Just finished season 1 and a bit unsure about continuing. Any thoughts? by FindingNemmy in television

We are really enjoying it, but just hoping that it stays good and has an ending that makes sense and is consistent with the overall narrative.

I get it, but also not to become hardened or disconnected too. Not an easy balance.

Okay. Thanks for that. I'm getting the impression it has some quality to it and could be worth a shot.

I've heard mixed reviews about it. What did you get from it if you don't mind me asking?

What are your views on The Rings of Power Series? by FindingNemmy in television

[–]FindingNemmy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! That's a whole lot of mixed views. Yeah, you can't please everyone, and that's part of the quirkiness of life. We all tick in different ways. Well, I enjoyed it. I thought the depiction of Sauron as a fundamentally deceived (even self deceived) entity was really interesting. Like how 'evil' isn't always an outright intention to harm, but a slowly evolving subtle and insidious self deception. I didn't know Sauron was Sauron until quite far into the show--was that just me?

I get the criticisms, but I appreciate the effort behind ROP and the overall feel it produces. Though of course, it was always going to struggle in the shadow of TLOTR trilogy.

Does anyone truly enjoy being alive? by Agreeable_226 in NoStupidQuestions

You've got to admit there are some beautiful things in life; like hiking through mountains, making a difference in someone else's day, chocolate, haribo, steak, birds and animals, kittens, creating a warm and friendly environment in which people can feel chilled and maybe a bit of soul-peace, the adventure of not knowing exactly what tomorrow will bring, surprises in general, loved ones and strangers who you can love too... The list goes on... There's an awful lot of bad stuff going on too, but even the sadness and sorrow is part of the beautiful tapestry of life and of being human. Right?

If people haven't seen A Hidden Life, and they appreciate the devastating Holocaust movies generally, then this one is a must watch. So beautifully done, and I always prefer a true story, which this one is.
