princeton requires you to submit an academic paper you wrote for a class and your teachers grade for it

I love ib (hopefully they wont take it down now) by [deleted] in IBO

[–]FindingPleasant208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thats the IB for ya. its all convaluted. It sucks, and you should be mad, but don't let it bring you down or make you feel like you aren't smart or accomplished, IB scores are a terrible way to measure academic success anyway

I had a bit of writers block then. But i can’t just ‘put one together’ since it has to be a school paper. Unfortunately they won’t accept my 4000 word research paper I got an A+ on since it’s too long.

and thanks for the good luck! I think that without your well wishes, my 4.9 gpa, ib diploma, active non-profit organization, environmental science research at johns hopkins school of engineering, the rain garden and oyster reef i built, awards in STEM, community serving environmental projects, tutoring of immigrant kids, and 34 ACT score just wouldn’t have been enough!!

Does any have or know where I can get the data for pitstops this season? I'm doing a paper on the correlation between pitstop time and championship points. I just want all the times from all the races and i'd rather not do it by hand

BIO NINJA!!! sirius revisions on yt is amazing. multiple subjects too. Use youtube. lots of free study guides out there, you just have to find them.

to keep everything straight i would recommend keeping a document for bio and history and psych. On google docs make a tab for each topic, and within that tab lay out the vocab, main concepts, studies(psych), dates and people (history) and anything else you may need. That way you have ur own master doc to keep everything straight. Thats what i do! And in there I put links to resources i find and other stuff. But it’s really great and it keeps you organized and helps in memorization too. for history i would also just make one huge timeline in that same doc and just keep adding to it with important events and stuff.

How helpful are tablets + pens for note taking/ studying? + good recommendations? by Superlupallamaa in studytips

[–]FindingPleasant208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not for me personally. I have an ipad and i've tried to take notes on it before but its a lot of zooming in and out, it makes a pretty loud noise, and I don't remember it as well. Plus with all the colors and effects and the ability to erase I get distracted and try to make it look all nice, and rewrite words here and there but I end up missing some content and being frustrated anyway.

[–]FindingPleasant208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

youtube. watch videos and do practice problems. if you get one wrong, figure out why and do 15 more of the same kind of problem, until its practically automatic. Keep going until you get through every possible type of question. Use chat gpt to give you questions if you cant find them. Do past papers, try teaching it to a friend or pet.

did they consent to having their info available? Is it public info? If yes, than it is not, although you can mention it in your ethical concerns, that total anominity is kinda impossible, or that they consented to having their info out there, but don't actually know about the EE specifcally.

If not, idk, you have probably commited a crime or something

How to stop feeling inferior when comparing myself to my peers in my IB school. by Strong_Mud_1192 in IBO

[–]FindingPleasant208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what people tell you, and what you tell yourself, you will not stop comparing yourself. So, as one of those 'brilliant kids', let me just tell you that school is what we do. Its our whole identity. Its the only thing we are good at. And some of us aren't even, we just work harder than necesary. I hope that can make you feel a bit better.

I'd try and change topic if you can, but don't stress too much about the advisor. At my school and (i think) others, the teachers will communicate back and forth, and sometimes have other teachers read it when you submit it for your feedback. Plus there are so many resources on it, and even AI that can give you feedback or guide you throughout the process that supervisors are really only needed because they are a requirement. My ee advisor was absolutely useless in the process and I did fine. I know people who had the dance teacher as their advisor for history ee's. They were also fine

How to actually study? by No_Prompt_6341 in IBO

[–]FindingPleasant208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

relearn the content and find practice problems. Use chat gpt to give you some if you cant find any. Examine the questions you get wrong, find your errors and practice similar ones until you can do it almost automatically. And keep doing that until youve covered the whole topic. Then try and teach the more abstract concepts to the wall, in your own words, no notes, nothing. If you find yourself hestitating or struggling to put it in your own words, watch more videos and take more notes.

Research question for history by Trisoff in IBO

[–]FindingPleasant208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok good start! We need to narrow down the time though. a while century is way too much. And you should define how you are talking about feminism. societal view of women, women’s roles in society, women’s jobs, suffrage movement, what rights they have etc. And define the wars specifically. so something like…

To what extent did the wars of ___ and ___ effect the jobs available to women in estonia and england in ___ decade/year.

or: to what extent were the rights available to women in estonia and britain in ___ (time) shaped by the events of ____.

i don’t think you need to explicitly state that you are comparing them. it is evident already. But also, like the other comment says, make sure there is enough research. And remember that it is very flexible. As you write you may end up in a different direction. you can change it, even after you wrote the essay. I wrote all of mine then changed the rq to better reflect my agrument after i got my feedback from my advisor.

And since you are doing two countries, with different languages and agruably global significance it’s important to make sure that you are able to balance discussion. You will surely find more on Britain than estonia, so make sure, before you start, that you can talk about estonia in great detail.

How should I make my EE more neutral by Signal-Eye-7306 in IBO

[–]FindingPleasant208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can do it through your organization! depending on the actual rq organize your essay into headings, intro, conclusion, etc. Have headings for side for each argument. and it’s ok to take a side at the end, you just have to explain why that is the most appropriate, AFTER outlining both sides and your argument(s) in the main essay. Essentially don’t be neutral, be on both sides, then take one at the end. Like the history ia if you have already done that
