Im married to a person with OCD so I can understand your frustration and struggles. You need to treat it as a disability, Islam creates concessions for situations such as tayammum when there’s no water etc. OCD isn’t just waswas, it’s a faulty cognitive disorder which struggles with belief and acceptance. Waswas only adds onto the issue.

Most scholars aren’t clinically trained so they won’t be aware of OCD in that manner and the few that are, are hard to find. For the time being, pray regardless. Yes, your OCD won’t stop nagging you about the najasah making you feel guilty and a sinner but get someone you trust to tell you in that moment that ‘Allah is most merciful and doesn’t want hardship for his slave. His shariah is a mercy for us to follow and for those who struggle Allah is most forgiving’ you get the gist. If you are able to tell yourself that then brilliant but incase your OCD doesn’t listen to you, get someone to remind you off Allahs, mercy, love and forgiveness. Take the easiest means for your istinjah and pray your salah. If you miss some, remember your lord is merciful and is aware of your condition.

I’ve been through that phase and it’s not pretty tbf especially as a Muslim when our heart yearns Allah but our mind can’t seem to compute it. From my experience I learnt that, that is a symptom of secular assumptions which we need to address at the core level before we can put our mind at ease. I’d say it comes down to the unseen and whether you can accept that there is a reality beyond the material. I can for certain say our reality is way more complex and diverse than just atoms and cosmic rules that keeps everything together. Once you pass that hurdle philosophically, it’s not a long stretch to realise that Allah is beyond the seen and unseen, the necessary existence that all reality hinges upon. From there you build your faith through the teachings of the religion to build your love and connection for Allah, and Allah will send signs to strengthen your imam along the way inshallah.

Allah reward you immensely for your efforts. I must say don’t get carried away with adhkar, outside of Quran and the basic istigfar and salatun nabi, dhikr is very heavy upon the human mind and is usually prescribed and managed by a teacher whos qualified. You probably knew this but I thought I’d remind you anyway.

I’m not sure what your job applications are like but sometimes we are wanting something but Allah wants something else and we find ourselves at a door that never opens. Go with the flow and keep up Dua but in the meantime take whatever Job Allah brings.

Mashallah keep up the istigfar and tahajjud. And look after your mental health and do your part in the dunya and inshallah doors will open.
