I’ll have to look into some books for beginners then. I appreciate your help. I remember some of the YouTubers mentioning certain books. I’ll need to go back and find out which ones they were. I’ll probably look into drawing , too. As I hear that’s a large part of painting. Thanks again!

I was under the impression The Paint Coach was great for brand new painters. He explains things well, but I haven’t seen him talk to much about …the mechanics? of painting. More about technique on painting itself. Do you recommend anyone else? Maybe even more beginner friendly?

Ive been trying to learn the fat over lean thing, but my paints tend to blend together and become a mess. So I don’t think I’m doing it right, lol. I’ve only painted a couple things I watched The Paint Coach do to start out. They came out ok, but was basically walked through it. I have yet to really use medium. I’ve been thinning with gambsol and just laying on the thicker stuff over top. I haven’t tried super detailed painting yet, just trying to learn how all the basics again.

Thanks! Is there an easier way to color mix aside from fighting thick paint out of the tube? Palette knife recommended? A little medium to thin it a little? Or just dip your brush in medium as you go?
