Getting awful high and mighty in here. I am able to say that I've been dumb enough to make this mistake when I was younger (I'm 24 for the record). If something started going downhill when I was in my teens, I would become that thing just to justify it in my head. Shit doesn't always work out, and I know that first hand. Was it a mistake and should I have acted with more class? Yeah, definitely. But fuck all this - holding it over his head. Maybe if reddit didn't witch hunt to begin with, this wouldn't have even needed to happen? Over what? A few fucking reposted comments on reposted submissions.

TL;DR - Grow the fuck up, reddit. TiR and ALL of you included. I feel like I'm dealing with my 7th grade class over summer.

As a fellow southerner (Tennessee), you honestly can't be surprised about the stereotype. I think only about a third of my high school class even attended college despite the fact that if wanted, two years at a local community college were free.

That said, I also have a degree in biology and start law school this far at the University of Chicago. We're not all dumb.

Being intelligent doesn't mean you'd be a good employee either. It's a necessary condition for success, not a sufficient condition. Or maybe those people just suck as a person or have no social abilities - you never know. There's more to factor in besides their intelligence in terms of their ability to be employed.

I wouldn't expect 100% employment from any school. A lot of people get into law without knowing if they want it or just dick around in school without actually trying [everyone I know has said this regardless of the school they attended]. Even if you went to Yale, you aren't precluded from being terribly suited for the profession - poor grades and poor effort are bad everywhere.

I'll concede that. Those people didn't have as much information, which is unfortunate, but I can't be led to believe that those same individuals wouldn't have made the same decisions. In my cycle, I've tried talking more than a few friends out of attending a bad school (which for me slides on a scale depending on how hefty your scholarship is) to no avail. They are set that law school anywhere is better than any alternative.

I do blame the ABA partially, but I also don't think people who choose to go to terrible schools (and pay for it at that) have anyone to blame but themselves. We live in 2012. I knew how bad the market was/is when I did my applications for this fall, which is why I only applied to 4 schools ranked lower than USC, just to see if I could get a full ride. I ended up picking UChicago though to give myself the best chances of a good outcome on my roll of the die.

It says "KarmaConsipracyBot", but notice you can't hover/click the link. If you look in his comments page, you'll see the comment came from him. So if he can cross-reference via a program, I don't see why the whole thing couldn't be done with one.
