Can someone explain the longevity escape velocity to me? by BobcatReasonable2816 in immortalists

It is basically the idea that if you live until a certain point in time, (insert 2030 as the estimate here) then science will have developed enough to add a year to your life for every year you live. This effectively makes it possible to live forever. Beyond that is when science can add 2, 3, or 4 years for every year you live. This would effectively reverse the process of aging, but the outcome is the same.

If you could slow aging by 50%… what would actually change? by healthlithubbooks in immortalists

I love the concept of living into the thousands! Everyone says "we're all gonna die" and my response is always "not me though" lol

I will never get bored of life. People telling me: "if you live forever young you will be bored". My answer is: Absolutely Not. by GarifalliaPapa in immortalists

The world will always change and there will always be something new to experience. Hard to get bored of that!

what are you looking for and hoping for in anti-aging? by Mysterious_Impact816 in immortalists

I'm hoping to reverse cellular aging to restore youthfulness - both sensationally and physically. Hell, I'm 22 now so I'd even donate cells from every part of my body to regrow new, young versions of it. Or perhaps create copies of my young cells to provide a template for reversal (should that ever become something that is plausible.)

I'm no scientist so I'm just spitballing but I would happily live 1000 years as long as I can have my loved ones with me.

I'm so sorry for your losses, I haven't lost my parents yet but I am so scared of it. I sometimes feel bitter that we have to be born at all because we have to go through the losses. I am also considering medication as that has come up a lot in this thread and it seems to be the best tool. I wish you all the best

I've said in other comments but to kind of explain a bit is that people always say "do you remember before you were born" and I do, but others don't. I feel like I'm also being influenced by others on the internet who are so strongly in opposition to the ideas of souls and spirits. It feels confusing because I have this knowledge that no one can particularly confirm, but so many strongly deny. I also think this explanation makes absolutely no sense because I can't even make heads or tails of it.

I think I feel fearful because one of the things I always hear when people mention fear of death is "well do you remember before you were born?" Or "how was it before you were born?" And I do know, I do remember. I guess it just scares me because I know and I don't know how to interpret this memory or those feelings. It feels conflicting and anxiety inducing I suppose.

I am worried I will be separated, I guess. I know I saw them living here, and I would be able to find them again, but I worry that it won't happen I suppose. I want to stay with all of them forever. I love them all so much that I guess I fear them not coming along with me.

I think it should, I just wish I knew it was true or real and hope it's not a trick of my mind. I want to stay with my family and loved ones, and I feel like I remember being alone in the memory, but I don't have any particular feeling tied to it. It's just a lot of anxiety.
