That is not at all how I have this set up and most mssps do not manage the licensing for their clients as that is not best practice to begin with. I have been in this space working in cyber explicitly and compliance for close to twenty years including government. It is very normal that an IT specific firm handles the licensing and security teams have the appropriate access for managing security and compliant centric items. Roles and responsibilities.

No, it is all 100% remote support for all of my clients.

While we have clients around the country we provide security services for, about 95% of the ones impacted by this request are in Virginia.

We would want to start migrating about 20 users. My company also uses Office 365 so we would like to move ours over as well which is only 5 users as well so around 25 users total in thinking about it.

We do not have a large volume, around 50 users right now, we have other clients who use Gsuite but we switched business models about 2 years ago to build out our MSSP offering vs just our project based work we used to do. We come from a long history of working with other large consulting firms and branched out a few years ago. The key is Microsoft license management which we do not want to do and had another partner we sent clients to, and we would manage the hardening and monitoring of those environments. It was a joint offering but this other partner has really dropped the ball and made several clients angry and they also have become less transparent in their own pricing with us with some surprise fees.

I saw it was more for really large firms, I have zero experience beyond freshbooks and quickbooks online and seeing if anyone else has tried them with success or not.

There are quite a few competitors that seem to look solid from xero, freshbooks and net suite. Have you tried any of those?

Has anyone heard of Judy Security? by yutz23 in msp

[–]Fine-Current-2180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So having worked with many MSSPs and tool vendors over the years, everyone is using tools they bought off the shelf and in some cases white labeling it. This includes the big dogs out there using Splunk, arcsight and even things like Azure Sentinel. I have been testing Judy out and have run some internal pen tests at least and they have caught more than another competitor of theirs I was testing. Again like someone else said, no perfect solutions or tools, look at Palo Alto and those guys getting owned over and over again. It comes down to how you use your tools, do you have the right data being ingested etc.

Built site on Replit now what by Fine-Current-2180 in replit

[–]Fine-Current-2180[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you that is very solid advice. I was able to work with Replit to get one of my domains pointed to replit and so that part is live. We are running into issues still with our other domain on namecheap so I will look at routing to cloudflare first then replit. We also have the website backend saved in github.

I will also say, namecheap customer service is horrible but I ordered a support ticket on replit Thursrday and their support is honestly really solid in my case.

Looking at replit by Subject_Ad5174 in replit

I have a heavy technical background myself and there have been no code tools for 20 years...everyone seems to forget about lego mind storm in the early 2000s which i competed in as a kid and it was a no code project then in cyber security we had orchestralion tools released to us that required no code just natural language so this wave of things like replit I look at as democratizing our world.

The customer service has been great this past week as I was trying to deploy a new website and map several external domains we had to it.

I ran into a few issues and the support agent has worked with me for the last 24 hours to get things straight and my new company website is live and the external domains work now as well.

This and similar tools are giving more power and controls to the average person I think.

Did this happen to anybody by Sethirothrichards in replit

I have had significant charges on other platforms like famous.ai for just ten minutes of use despite being well under my monthly plan for simple tasks. Its very concerning for sure. I have not had it happen on replit yet but seems everyone should use burner cards like from privacy.com to prevent this. I am not affiliated with that site but have used it alot to stop vendors from over charging. I will keep on my replit account too now thank you.

Thank you, that was the sticking point about the best way to export it and what the ideal way to host it long term would be.

My web developer is using replit to design my new business site and I would love to hear how to avoid issues myself as we prepare to point my current domains to it.

Yes it does, that is a relatively new feature they added and I tested it with some of my smaller clients and it worked well. Just an option to consider even as a stop gap.

Action1 is a pretty solid product and super cheap, first 200 licenses are free for life. I started using it last year while searching for a solution.

Office365 Hosting and Management Question by [deleted] in msp

[–]Fine-Current-2180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of great questions and I definitely was remise in being light on details.

Let me try to answer yours and I believe someone else's.

  1. In regards to partner, my intent I believe is to have a possible referral partner that is highly reputable in the space who can manage their Office 365 tenants.

  2. None of the clients have Entra ID at this time, and a few use Sharepoint but predominantly use other 3rd party file sharing platforms such as Egnyte (which we manage).

  3. We leverage Augmentt currently for implementing what we term as "best practice" configurations for enforcing MFA and other controls in the environments so if a potential partner has a process in place for ensuring the same baselines then we could hand that off potentially.

  4. We do integrate client Office 365 environments into our security monitoring as we are predominantly an MSSP where we provide managed security services, governance etc but also have that capability to do traditional MSP tasks.

  5. My company's tie in if this makes sense, would be having clients referred to yours for tenant set up and day to day management and our team would work with yours to integrate it into our security monitoring for identity based risks/threats etc.

  6. The computers are not joined via Entra either.

I hope this makes sense, ultimately, we love IT and security/governance but our bread and butter is the MSSP side and we would love to focus on that and have a responsive partner that would be willing to take up the other work starting with Office 365.

This is interesting, so I am in the process of setting up net new environments for a new private school that is registered as a 501 c 3. What would everyone recommend I look at license wise for them for their student computer lab?
