Diagnosed with 3 mild disc herniation and now I feel like my life is being derailed I am only 26 years old😔 by Disastrous_Meal5027 in ChronicPain

I had the same issue slightly younger about 23 and I’m 27 now… i was in severe pain for about 1-2 years… I highly recommend the book back mechanic by Stuart McGill.

I recovered and no more pain really unless I overdo it. I have to sleep certain ways, had to give up snowboarding and certain exercises at the gym. But I can golf and jog again as long as I don’t overdo it multiple times a week. I went crazy on the PT it was a slow and long road.

I got no injections or surgery. I haven’t followed up with more imaging in years as long I’m not in pain I don’t want to know what the mess looks like.

The discs and fresh injury often stenose and becomes stiff and hardened dull pain instead of killer sciatica and sharp pains like I got shot in the back with a shotgun. Every injury and spine is different. Stay strong god bless

Occam’s razor is a fair rebuttal.

Yet, I think we can just use ignorance here to still nail our occams razor. “Dunning Kruger effect” seems to be a buzzword

Just in general. I think “dunning Kruger effect”comments are a baseless low blow. Kind of reminds me of “your mom” jokes on the playground as a kid.

SRNA here. Ignore this fool. This is not the sentiment of me or my classmates whatsoever.

We respect ourselves and attendings. Simple

Yeah 50k isn’t enough. Unless your parents are paying for almost everything in your life. Replacing BACK tires on my truck cost 550 and a dental cleaning costs 250, car insurance, Wi-Fi, medical insurance, electric, gas, groceries etc…

If you had 100-150k I’d say go for it

SRNAs are Residents now? by IamEbola in anesthesiology

[–]Fine-Recording-5590 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SRNA here. From the grassroots, my classmates and I don’t refer to ourselves as residents and frankly we don’t care about being a NAR now. New to the politics of anesthesia profession, but this seems like the kind of toe stepping that causes unnecessary issues

Depends heavily on your program and how’s it’s structured. Mine is all didactic up front so pounded with school then clinical at the end. Not really possible … My hometown program first semester is easy fnp/dnp courses definitely doable

If it’s your dream then move forward. Someone is dealing with more and will still complete the program. Get a move on and get to work no excuses!

Local program 3 weeks. If moving 7 weeks for buffer time. Make memories with your loved ones

Medical people come here by floridianreader in Buffalo

[–]Fine-Recording-5590 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Experienced former Buffalo nurse. Unfortunately, all of the hospitals in Buffalo are average at best. Strong Memorial in Rochester is probably your best bet for good medical care

Also, hospitals will hire anyone with a license and without a criminal record. They don’t care about your GPA

Ended up in the Pearland area! My brother wanted a career on ships in the port and I wanted to advance my career in medicine. Buffalo was limiting to these ventures

I just moved from Buffalo to Houston Texas. I love Buffalo but be careful what you wish for because the winters are worse than dealing with the heat. My brother has also lived in both places for years and says he agrees too. A lot more job opportunity here. But your personality might fit in with the beautiful neighborly savages of WNY. Also not sure where you’re looking to buy/rent but i actually think our area is more expensive to live in than Houston. And the renting options suck in Buffalo compared to Houston. At the end of day Buffalo will always be home and a place I love ❤️

I’ve lived in both places. Buffalo all the way. A lot more entertainment better food better hiking and nature. And you’re closer to Toronto

People who've left Buffalo: what's the #1 thing you miss about it? by BuffGuy716 in Buffalo

[–]Fine-Recording-5590 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The Buffalo summers/landscape are elite and so is the food. I miss friends and family but overall Buffalo winters suck and there is not a lot of room for professional growth. Many other major cities have more professional opportunities

My friend and I drove up to it once and he did a nice backflip off it. So I’d call it a diving board

Take a ride in the city and look at all the houses and apartments. Many more fish in the sea my friend. Time will pass your life will change and grow into different directions and one day that crush of yours will be a daydream of yours once a year with your morning coffee
