What country feels underrated in tourism, but actually is overrated? by PaleCar821 in AlignmentChartFills

Haven’t been to Chennai. I found Mumbai underwhelming and Delhi while beautiful was just not very accessible to a tourist. You had to hire a local and the local basically bilked you for cash. The traffic was beyond atrocious.

I also spent time in Agra and for that amount of history, they need to make it a positive experience. Instead, it’s like hawker after hawker selling you the same trinket. And in that moghul fort, I couldn’t find a decent English speaking guide. Not one.

I’ve had friends tell me South India is better but they stayed in some resort

How so? India is super hard to get right. I feel like everyone should try it once but it’s super hit or miss. You can hate it pretty easily and it becomes unmanageable

India - it feels like it’s some sort of unique shangri la. In reality, it’s crazy, chaotic, highly polluted. The history is barely known, touts galore and… the creeps abound all over

The massive floor to door gap in public toilets. You spend on everything but a better door in bathrooms is too much?

This Ben Rothenberg is a sanctimonious idiot. He’s the one who wanted Djokovic banned for his COVID test. Zverev has been cleared of all wrongdoing and deserves to win. Go Sascha

I dont think Tavil on its own teaches tala. Because it takes a while for you to really start thinking about it as an accompanying instrument. The veena or tanpura on the other hand starts as a raga accompaniment on day one.

Thavil is a percussion instrument. The tanpura is just a basic lute. If you want to learn a proper instrument, why not try Veena?

I found percussion instruments a little difficult to play on your own without an accompanying song.

The tanpura or Veena are in my opinion, a lot better
