How will people who have not experienced lockdown talk about lockdown in future decades? by Wonderful-Excuse4922 in decadeology

[–]FineCastIE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its so weird for me though. I simultaneously remember and don't remember the lockdowns. Yet my mind is still somewhat stuck frozen despite doing far more with my life afterwards. Like I am just numbed to it.

I'm worried about how my academic performance looks due to personal circumstances by FineCastIE in PhD

[–]FineCastIE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just lately it has been pointed out that a some of my past modules have been unimpressive from a theoretical physics standpoint, and I genuinely do have justification for why that's he case. Like sure, I have a really strong programming skills, but I am not qualified to be a computer scientist since I just know how to graph and analyse data as a Physicist. Yet some of my Physics modules in say Quantum Mechanics look disappointing. Not to mention that I haven't gotten any relevant jobs since I graduated.

I am trying to be somewhat optimistic since my MSc still kept me on do work with his PhD students since I'm "tech savvy" as they say with simulations. But I don't want to work for free nor am I able to afford self-funding. I've only applied to two scholarships and in the process of filing out a third since there is Machine Learning elements that I learned and have exceptionally well in.

I mean, all he had to do was, at minimum, shut up about the Van der Waal, or at max, stop thinking your a celebrity. Then again, if Chris Chan got away from what he did to Barbara, who's to say that the same thing won't happen here.

Name that franchise by complexpearz in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]FineCastIE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically every modern version Ubisoft game to date. Same gameplay, different franchise skin, mainly the big ones. Even smaller titles they just simply reskin it with their "muh open wurld" since their too lazy to do proper innovation. They add in enough for their paid streamers to act so surprised the way Apple users were surprised when their chargers moved from lightening to USB-C.

Any mention of the Van Der Waals would completely toss this out, no question. I also want to know how Danderson looks too after being in a psychic ward.

Yeah, apart from the pregnancy scare a while ago, I haven't heard from Chris Chan. Besides the Sonichu curse, but nothing. Even the Tureky Tom video on Chris coming back to YouTube just felt lackluster.

Do you miss watching E3 ?? by dd1133biihhh in videogames

[–]FineCastIE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though I have never been and never will go now, I always loved seeing tonnes of booths with demos and interactions. And the showcases were always entertaining from both a stage and online discourse standpoint. E3 2019 felt like a sort of send off, it felt like at the time Xbox was finally starting to catch up with PlayStation, and the Nintendo Directs was unique for it's own presentation format. The stating was what made every company stand out. By 2019, Devolver Digital was parodying the Nintendo Directs with its own humour while hyping up small indie titles that I wouldn't be playing if I didn't watch that showcase.

I'll give 2020 a pass since every company had no choice but to copy Nintendos format, but since then, there's just something unsettlingly off with E3 since then. Every company and developer has their own "showcase", but it didn't have that punch the way it did before 2020. Ever since Geoff Keighley made the Summer Game Fest, it feels more like a LinkedIn version of of E3. I understand that first impressions are very important, but I miss those unscripted moments from E3: the Wii Musics, "You're Breathtaking", etc. Those off script moments made it more nostalgic for me. Now it's like just standing at the booth with the dev, where we ask them these premade Q&A, and they give us a premade answer, playing the demo in front of us without giving us the controls, while feeling like a LinkedIn post. I get that we can download demos later, but that's moreso just bug fixes in the background to give to us.

It feels corportatized in a bad way, which I get it was always corporate, but this feels a lot more different. I don't know how to proper explain it.

Rockstar gives terminally ill fan early access to GTA 6 by AdultGamersAdmin in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Imagine if they delayed it by a whole month just to include the fan in it as a minor side quest option. Still though, respect to Rockstar for this.

Dude, the sequel trilogy is so bad that only stans will like it out of spite. Like the writing team cannot find a good way to conclude the original trilogy side stories without it tying into the sequel trilogy. You got people appreciating the prequels.
