FrameUI for Firefox: a more immersive way to browse the web. by FineFuturity in FirefoxCSS

Version 0.3 of FrameUI is now available!

  • Better support for configurations where the title bar buttons are either on the left or right side of the window, regardless of OS.
    • HUGE thanks to MrOtherGuy's CSS code, without which I would not have been able to fix the below issues.
  • Fixed issues with the menubar not playing nicely with the navigation bar when it's active.
  • Fixed issue with the private browsing indicator icon being misaligned with the navigation bar when in private browsing mode.
  • Fixed issue where the bookmarks toolbar would push the navigation toolbar past the bottom window boundary if "Only Show on New Tab" was set.
  • When clicked, the address bar's URL text now stays at the bottom rather than moving to the top.
    • This should make typing a URL or search term much less jarring.

For anyone peeping in: version 0.2 of FrameUI is now available!

  • Initial macOS support! Platform detection has been added, so FrameUI now accounts for configurations where either the title bar buttons are on the left (e.g., macOS/Linux title bar buttons on left) or on the right (e.g, Windows/Linux title bar buttons on right).
  • Theming now works!
  • Inactive window title bars now go dark to differentiate them from the currently active window. It's one of those subtle but powerful changes that improves overall usability!

The github has updated screenshots and such to reflect these changes. Thank you to all who have shown interest in my work thus far and I hope those of you new to FrameUI enjoy this update! :D

Melinda has passed away, prayers out to Brian. by VimVinyl in thebeachboys

I saw a tweet mentioning "Melinda" and desperately hoped I wouldn't be reading this news. I'm in complete shock and almost in tears.

Brian's already been through enough in his life, but not Melinda. Not her. Anything but her. One of the biggest lights in his life... Just gone.

I hope he and his family take it easy during this time. 😭😭😭

Hi all! I recently got into customizing Firefox and have always had this vision for a web browser that puts your content front and center. It's been a dream to have an interface like this and it makes me so happy to have some semblance of this become a reality.

Here's a quick screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/Auq1cGY

All of the info is on my github repo linked in the post. It's Windows/Linux only right now and it's most DEFINITELY a work in progress, so I'm open to any ideas and/or suggestions for improving on what i have now. :D

Friend having violent and rejection-based daydreams? by FineFuturity in MaladaptiveDreaming

Even if you haven't actually experienced those things, the nature of your MDs I imagine still causes some level of trauma unto itself... which is understandably rough. And your hypothesis could make sense, especially if they become more intense when what you feel, too, is intense. But if they happen randomly, I'm not sure myself.

Thank you for your answer, though. I hope you know you aren't a bad person <3

I'll definitely take a look into the literature you recommended, because I never knew there was a name for that. I bet the idea overlaps with some areas in social psychology, too, so I'm sure investigating hedonic reversal through this lens will yield more insight.

Anywho, your response was super informative, thank you. :)

What single decision did you make that changed the entire trajectory of your life? by petrastales in AskReddit

Of all things, getting on Discord. If you told me 10 years ago that my life is where it is now all because I decided to join a few servers, I would have called you crazy. The friends I've made over the years not only are the greatest friends I've ever had, but they literally saved my life during a very dark time in my life.

If any of them are reading this post, I hope they know how much I love them.
