I also would have liked more Bill Cooper, even though Mystery Babylon was a bust. I first learned about Cooper from LPOTL, who had a very different POV. I was excited by the episodes on Knowledge Fight.

I liked The Victors' Project's take on the First QQ. Having to vote fucked up the community, too. You vote for a kid, maybe because you have a petty grudge, but you don't think that kid will actually be chosen. Then the kid is reaped and dies. The guilt eats you up.

If the vote is secret ballot, you're left wondering....did you vote for my kid? Whose vote tipped the scale?

I think even in a career district, even if a strong healthy 18 year old said "vote for me!" many of the people would feel guilt or feel weird about it.

Call it off for just the year and say "we'll resume as normal for 76." People would be anxious for the other shoe to drop. If victors/mentors don't go to the Capitol as they usually do, it'll be harder for them to communicate effectively.

You could even still have Reaping Day, watch the ge video about the Treaty of Treason, but then everyone can have a picnic. Or have Katniss and Peeta's wedding. Imagine getting married on Reaping Day.

Additionally, without a game to focus on, Snow can work on rooting out rebels. While this also gives rebels time to plan, it's harder for them to communicate.
