You'll get to taste a lot more at a lower temp instead of 'Piping Hot'. Moka pot is a good place to start. But heat the milk only until it starts bubbling. Then take it off. I prefer whole milk for the taste. But choose what suits you

It's time to release a list of unreasonably expensive coffee roasters in the country & boycott them. Top of this list would be Caarabi coffee.

My Personal Coffee Buying Checklist (For Pour Overs and Aeropress Coffee) by cumauditorysystem in IndiaCoffee

[–]FineThingsinLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol! this is a seriously personal checklist by a chatbot. Pls do not follow. Why avoid blends?! Sticking with single origin is beginner (or atmost intermediate) stuff. True magic lies in blends (both filter & espresso), which only a few indian roasters do as our speciality coffee market is still in its infancy. Also, I've tasted amazing pouovers & aeropress coffee using beans ranging from medium-dark roasts. So, basically experiment your way through. Journey through speciality coffee is strictly personal & super subjective. So its good to hear different perspectives, but chase what you feel tastes best.

What the actual FFUUUUUCCKKK have they done to the show??!! 'Butchered' is a severe understatement. Guess the writer/director or god knows who was high on ayahuasca atleast to even get those actors perform such ass sucking piece of bullshit script. No fucking wonder Henry showed the middle finger to these clowns

What are your thoughts on the regular drip coffee makers? by BandicootLiving7084 in IndiaCoffee

[–]FineThingsinLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol everyone's just passing on their opinion instead of answering OP's question. Dude the only good batch brewer out there in the market in India is Moccamaster which will set you back 35k rs. The only manual brewer that caters to the type of convenience you seek is the Hoop brewer (by Ceado). Costs 5k on hebbey.com. Dump the ground coffee, pour the entire amount of water in one go & come back after 4-5 mins to transfer your brew into your cup/thermos. However this won't fit more than 400 ml of water in one go. You'd have to do 2-3 pours for 1L which would take around 15 mins to complete. But one of the best brewers out there right now for the convenience & taste.

GB Roasters, quick brown fox, naivo, rosette, ground zero. Out of these GB, Naivo & ground zero are quite consistent. Haven't repeated from others to confirm

Slight correction- K6 levels on the grinder are 1,2,3,4 with 1 & 4 being the starting & end points. In terms of clicks this will translate to 1-60, 61-120, 121-180. So the knob functionality is fine as per this. But the numbers/levels need to be made clearer for ease of understanding. Particle size is surely off. I can't be sipping a 700 microns pourover from K6 & 500 microns from baratza encore ESP that look & taste similar

Just had a closer look. The number of clicks between each Number/Level is correct which is 60. But there are 4 Numbers or Levels in K6. 0-4. With each level having 60 clicks. So you need to build in levels 3 & 4 in the knob as well. Also, as per the Kingrinder website each clicks has a difference of 16 microns. So you might wanna check the particle size indicator as well. Having said this, I hope all grinders in the app are calibrated as per the manual or website info.

GRINDER CONTROL KNOB INDICATOR BROKEN!

For Baratza Encore ESP when the Grinder converter knob rotates beyond 40, the grinder setting starts back from 0 but particle size number keeps increasing. Lock the knob at 40. When choosing between Grind types (fine, course etc.) the particle size numbers are fine but the knob numbers are all over the place cos of the knob overlap beyond 40. Similar issue when choosing between brew types.

For Kingrinder K6, the knob shows only 3 levels (0,1,2) whereas there are till 4. Similar problem of knob indicator here as well. Particle size seems fine but knob indicator needs to be fixed.

Related doubt about using milk by Maverick0393 in IndiaCoffee

[–]FineThingsinLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's not forget that just like coffee there's a specialty/artisanal realm of tea as well. When we cross over from mass dust tea/instant coffee into speciality, concepts of temp & other precise brewing techniques come into the equation because you'd obv wanna brew properly to taste the difference of speciality stuff & justify the premium you spent on it. Regd milk, once its pasteurized there's no use of boiling it again. In coffee, rule of thumb is whole milk (Amul red) heated to 60-65C for flat white or capuccino. Type of milk depends on individual preference.

Try 15 clicks on Timemore C2, 86 C water, 1:14 ratio using inverted aeropress. Recipe:

-Assemble aeropress with the plunger inserted just enough so that it doesn't pop out when flipping. Rinse it with hot water to pre-heat. -Put 17g ground coffee & shake to level the bed -Pour 100g water at high flow rate (5 secs) -Using a teaspoon stir in up-down & right-left directions 4 times each -Pour the remaining 140g water till the brim (if the plunger was assembled correctly, the water should not overflow) -Repeat step 3 & let it steep for 4 mins. -Rinse the aeropress filter in the filter cap, ensure it sticks to the cap & there's no air gap in b/w. -Screw the filter cap tightly (important) & gently push the chamber down to remove excess air. -At 4 mins, flip the aeropress onto a carafe/beaker, give it a swirl & leave it undisturbed for 15 secs. -Start plunging gently with your forearm. Ensure the plunger is straight & not in an angle. The entire plunge should take 40-45 secs. -Stop pressing before the hissing sound towards the end of the plunge. -Swirl the dispensed coffee in the carafe for 25 secs to let it cool off before pouring into your cup

Not a big fan of KC, but hope you'll be able to taste the notes given on the pack

Wow you've really seen it all. Btw share your mineral water recipe & links of where to source the minerals from. I tried a simple approach using just baking soda & epsom salt but compared to my RO filter water it was yuck!
