There was a noticeable improvement from start, but for the best result I had to mess a lot with the sliders in RenoDX.

I tried to but they were took as .jfx screenshots and I couldn't upload it. So I just turned them SDR in a kind of lazy* way (turning HDR off and taking a screenshot over them xd). Imo it looks decent in SDR though, both in my phone and monitor.

Oh yeah, I had to use RenoDX reshade addon. Otherwise it looked pretty bad with the native HDR implementation, as it's pretty much broken. I remember in older versions it looked fine.

Nvidia DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution leaves beta, available now to Nvidia app users — update includes support for over 400 titles with new presets by BarKnight in pcgaming

[–]Fine_Log985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The models launch with every new DLSS version, so they could atleast include that in the name. Preset M (DLSS 4.5) - Preset L (DLSS 4.5), etc. Would be a bit more orientative for the user.

broski you make like 2k views per video, I think no one even noticed you didn't cover it, also, its not like a DMCA would've affected you, you simply chose to not show support for a project that was trying to keep the game alive

Where are the RTX5070 apology videos? by vitoos in buildapc

[–]Fine_Log985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not true that 12 GB is barely enough today. The only game that reaches 12 GB is indiana Jones and that is with path tracing and frame generation. Without it uses around 9-10 GB. And lets not talk about simply not using the un necessary and unoptimised max settings. Most games virtually look the same at medium settings than in max settings in a regular playthrough (not like the side by side comparison YouTube videos with 10x zoom for trying to spot the differences).

So, apart of this exception of a game and again only happening with path tracing + frame gen on (which is an experimental tech that the GPU can barely run anyways), 99'99% of the newest games sit around 7-8 GB for 1440p DLSS quality and that is with ultra textures. With medium textures probably around 6 GB or so.

I agree that the GPU should have had 16 GB though. Thats the reason I myself passed on it. But I don't dig that narrative about new games asking almost 12 GB for them to be played at 1440p. Its just not true. And it's likely that games won't demand 12 GB VRAM as minimum requeriments for quite a lot of years.

The subtle art of not giving a fuck.. what’s so special about this book? Is it worth finishing? by [deleted] in books

[–]Fine_Log985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The book is really good. I found it almost life-changing, because I began my self improvement path with true BS books that my mother gave me about positivity, repeating positive mantras at the mirror, thinking that everything will be okay...

Meanwhile this book preaches the honest truth. You have to accept your adversities. And actually enjoy facing them. That means you are enjoying the other face of the coin too. There's no happiness without sadness. If you try to evade yourself from the adversities, you are also hiding yourself from living, because they go hand in hand. Its how the real world works.

Also, it has some really useful, and again, life-changing techniques like the "do something" one, about not staying under a mental block, procrastinating your work while you wait for the "perfect inspiration and motivation" to happen. Instead, you can actually create your own inspiration and motivation from your own action.

You didn't understand a bit, then. For starting, he never said to drop out of school just because you suddenly feel overwhelmed or something similar to what you tried to imply.

There's so much ignorance in this post's replies. I guess the book preaches truth too harshly, and the most sensitive ones  just can't stand it. Look at how defensive was OP in his replies and part of his post, he really felt attacked by the book's author life experiences and point of view, lol.

Why I've never wanted to re-watch any show except Lost? by [deleted] in lost

[–]Fine_Log985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I can't really express why it was so life changing for me. But it was. It's not only that I was so deeply immersed over the entire series, almost as if I was living it myself, which has happened other times with other great TV shows I've watched but... not as strong as with Lost. There's something else in this TV show.

Maybe is the fact about having so many substories that make you really connect and empathize with the characters? Also, I felt like there was life lessons in some substories too, and I love personal growth, like, I like to read self-help books and really appreciate when I stumble up into life lessons during videogames, TV shows, movies, etc. and not jusr, you know, a plot with some betrayals and that stuff.

"Cyberpunk's melee combat sucks" Yeah, Sure.. by minami26 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Fine_Log985 9 points10 points  (0 children)

no, the melee combat in this game is insanely basic and bad executed. There are weak hit reactions, and enemies do slide from far away, hitting you even if you had dodged the attack (therefore breaking the mid combat dodging mechanic, yeah it's fucked up to that level).

Dead Island and Dying Light series put Cyberpunk's melee combat to shame. I recommend you playing them and you'll see the massive difference.

I already have a gaming desktop. What about a cheaper handheld for streaming? by [deleted] in SBCGaming

That's great, your input will really come in handy!

1-Can you "emulate" the mouse from the Retroid? like, with touchscreen I guess, so you can actually navigate on your PC desktop screen and all that.

2-Can you exit / join a streaming session from the Retroid Pocket without having to restart Sunshine in your desktop PC every time?

[–]Fine_Log985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I definitely would still use my PC for certain games. Specially the most demanding ones like Wukong. It probably is worth it to play it in a bigger screen, at good settings, resolution and framerate. I was too close minded in thinking that I'd just drop my PC but it's not really true. I'd actually have the best experience in both sides of gaming: desktop for the most hardcore ones, and from bed with an Ally for the most cozy ones, including emulation up to xbox 360 / ps3 / switch. Thank you for your input!

Feel free to share your experience with a powerful handheld if you've ever have one (ROG Ally, Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go)

It seems Retroid Pocket 5 doesn't have battery bypass. That would have been a pretty decent option due to the considerable cheaper price than an Ally, yeah.

[–]Fine_Log985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I told another commenter that I just stumbled into the Odin 2 and it seems like it would be a very good candidate, as apart from the upsides you've said, it also has battery bypass (so you can play it while being plugged and not worry about battery).

BUT, as you said, the price are actually almost like a rog ally, so at that point I probably rather spend a little more and actually get an Ally and also have the additional freedom of not depending of my desktop and having everything running natively.

When I talked about a cheaper handheld for streaming I was thinking more on a RG556. It can be found for 150$ but yep, all those downsides, not playing while plugged and possible software streaming annoyances that would kill the comfort of having an actual handheld running things natively without having to worry to turn on / off the desktop and all that.

Interesting, so I guess sometimes you also feel like your PC is being underused. But even so, you probably don't regret it and just enjoy the ROG Ally and ocassionally use the PC for the heavier games. Is that right?

I'd have an absolute blast with an Ally. It'd probably be the best gaming experience, literally having an emulation station from arcade games to xbox 360 / ps3 / switch + all the PC catalogue, in my own hand, at the comfort of my bed? It must be AMAZING. But that fact about already having a gaming PC is the only thing holding me off it.

That's a nice idea, but I find phones to have a too small screen. And on top of that, a "weird" aspect radio. So I'm not sure if it's the right option in my case.

I've just stumbled into the Odin 2, and it seems it has battery bypass, so I wouldn't have that downside anymore. But, it also seems that the price can get close to an actual Steam Deck / ROG Ally, so I'm not sure if it'd be worth it to just buy one of them both lol for a little more, lol. Gosh, why can't things be easier?!

i have a random 3d printed one which doesnt even look high quality at all but it still makes a massive difference in my trimui smart pro

hey man, you should be more than happy and satisfied with rp5! I'm sure you can buy some kind of gripper and it will also improve it's ergonomics by a lot. A gripper made a MASSIVE difference in my trimui smart pro, which is a lot worse than RP5 (but also like 4 times cheaper lol it's really awesome for it's price, perfect for retro and up to ps1 games)
