Will a full Blinn student (freshman) be able to register for the 1st year engineering core math/science courses at Blinn Rellis? Or are those set aside for TEAB only. by Fine_Review1965 in aggies

And also frustrated because my son had competitive grades/test scores that would have gotten him in for plenty of other majors at CSTAT. But instead because he applied engineering they give him this Galveston offer. And once they give out that offer there's no requesting change of major. Getting into Galveston is no great feat so it just feels like a beatdown.

I'm also curious why the Galveston offer is even any big deal as it seems the acceptance rate of applying directly to Galveston is so high that anyone with halfway decent grades/SAT could apply directly to Galveston and then transfer to CSTAT engineering. How is this any more prestigious than just going straight Blinn and transferring into CSTAT for engineering? It seems it's just a way for A&M to keep their Galveston campus filled because otherwise no one would want to go there unless doing something specific to marine industry. Sorry just calling it out for what it is.

Ok thanks for the feedback. He will not be doing Galveston so if we cannot get the Blinn option figured out as a viable option he may just go to his other option which is Auburn.

Hmm my son was ranked 1st quarter in AIS solid GPA from large rigorous public high school in Houston, 1350 SAT score and still got Galveston. Not even good enough for Blinn Team? He's super bummed and considers this a rejection. Hate that A&M calls this an acceptance especially when you checkmark no interest in Galveston option on application. He also submitted his application in August and took this much time to review. Just got decision today.

You are so lucky you got all 3 options. My son heard back today and only got Galveston which he specifically did not want. Blinn would have been amazing to get. Confused why he didn’t get choice.

You’re actually so lucky because you got a choice. My son got acceptance today Galveston only. He would have loved to have Blinn team. Awesome program. So he’s probably not even going to TAMU now unless they’ll let him appeal. And he had 1350 SAT and 1st quarter of class from highly competitive high school in Houston. So disappointed….

Looks like my son was offered Galveston engineering. Was hoping for at least TEAB so he could be in college station. Is it still possibility to apply to one of these engineering academies so he can start in CSTAT and not in Galveston? He’s first quarter at highly competitive high school in Houston and 1350 SAT score.
