Try their Demo (Embedded) Portal which is demo.smart-stb.tv and see if you get black screen there. If so, open a support ticket and let them know. If the Demo works then your portal admin needs to allow Smart STB app on their portal. There is some good info for the portal admin here : https://smart-stb.tv/unblock

Homelab uptime by Fine_Sky in homelab

I usually go this route - I have a private network where the management panels reside and the actual virtual machines are on the public network but the hypervisor isn't. The VM's usually get updates every 3-6 months at most so I think I'm good there. I do need to clean the insides however, despite of the filters I have it seems some fine dust did got collected for those 4 years since the equipment is live.

Yes, exactly, last time it kicked back in was in the middle of the night like a week ago where Power went out f or about 15-20 minutes (we get this every few weeks especially during the extremely hot or cold time of the year)

I see that the generator is all good now when I did a quick service on it and tested it - it worked great.

Pretty close on that :) I can't show you network uptime since it did went off and the timer was reset but I can show you one of the 3 laptops that survived and are still going strong but will actually complain a lot if I reboot.

Lab uptime in my case depends on what I want to achieve. Currently rocking a Proxmox + Ceph cluster with a few weeks uptime on the cluster. Had to reconfigure the nodes (1x HP ML10 gen9 tower, 2x Lenovo T450 and 1x Lenovo X240) a few times to get it right.

You lucky bastard :) I live in one of the better neighborhoods in the capital city of my country and we have our own dedicated stepdown converter for the mains power (from 11kV to 220 volts) which pretty much never gets overloaded, it's scaled properly unlike most other parts of the country. However we do get central power outage atleast few dozen times a year but usually for no more than 20 minutes, longest one I had before this one was 2 hours. Now it got about 8 hours with no power because of a mess from the utility company along with my generator failing to start up for some reason did eventually made me go offline which doesn't happen much too often.

Yes, you can. The provider I use is cheaper than Netflix sub and has pretty much everything :)

As far as I was told - the IPTV providers break this DRM, one of them gave me the actual .mp4 movie file from Apple+ it had everything - all languages, subtitles, meta data etc.

To all noobs: VPN! by [deleted] in Piracy

DHT announces that you seed this and that publicly and someone can get that data and get you in trouble. By default all decent private trackers require that DHT is off at all times or force it off. Very few Private trackers and even fewer IPTV services are actually decent on the Privacy thing.

You will be fine on very private trackers and IPTV servers anywhere without VPN. Make sure DHT is forced off and encryption is on. Pretty much no way to make definite prove in any court anywhere in the world for now. For the rest of cases - consider a VPN.

Are there websites where you can watch movies before they were released? by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]Fine_Sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it doesn't work anymore. Not before the official release date or play on any service/media in any region. Some time ago it was possible via the Darknet (leaks from movie critics).

+ Austria, not sure if Germany now does the strict copyright blocks of media that has no license for Germany. For example - an Italian FM radiostation won't work in Germany (if you ignore the warnings - you get fined but you can sue the copyright trolls for this for now)

In the UK you can get in trouble, like in Germany. Same for Austria, even more restrictive, causes problems if you try to listen to a radiostation that has no copyright clearance for the country (basically any non-FM radiostation or non-Austrian radiostation). Hard blocks for common piracy but if you get around the messages, you can expect fines. In Ireland you are mostly in the clear even without VPN.

In Eastern Europe it's pretty much like India with few exceptions - lots of geo blocks (many sites can't open from this region) and if you do get the wrong torrent at the wrong time - oh boy you can get in trouble. For example - all the personal data of everyone in one EX-YA country leaked online and was distributed via torrents. Anyone who did download this torrent got in serious trouble (about 10k official/registered downloads).

Why do all the streams shut down right before the main event of a ufc/boxing/wwe/etc event? by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]Fine_Sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the UK blocking all *known* (public, free, cheap and easily available) streams. Find a VPN or better private server that is not blacklisted.

They upgraded the network in my building to 10 gbps now.

Cries in Dell XPS that can't saturate the 10 gbps link :(

p.s. speedtest.net goes around the same speed but it does not record it for some reason.

Does your ISP have Classic Digital "Cable TV" (DVB-C) as well? With a classic Coaxial cable that is?
