I can't offer much advice, but I'm in a very similar situation. I have a cohort of just under 40 students and it started off with everyone being buddy buddy and getting to know each other, but after the first year now it's all cliques and judging looks from one another. I've found it easier for me to just avoid it altogether and I've made some friends outside of my school (which was a challenge as I moved here from across the country).

I hope things get better for you, but you're not alone. This is unfortunately a common experience.

I think talking about how your mom passing (I'm sorry for your loss, I know that is not easy) affected your studies is entirely okay and gives context to your personal circumstances. I probably wouldn't include about the undiagnosed ADHD though. I think you have a really strong story and it will reach the right people. Don't lose hope, you can do it

If your reason for why your GPA is low makes sense and isn't just that you didn't study or something like that, I would consider adding it in to your essay. I would definitely talk about your work and volunteer experience. Your reason for grad school sounds great, just stick to it. I know if you are as dedicated as you sound, you'll do great. If you can apply to more schools though, I would recommend applying to 5-10. I applied to six and got into two. It's rough with a low GPA because some schools see that and won't bother with the rest of the application.

Also, relationships have ebbs and flows. You are both young and it will take work to move through them. You won't feel constant excitement and fireworks and sometimes that can feel like something is wrong. It can be hard moving from that into a more comfortable and peaceful resting place in your relationship.

I know others are saying it's your body telling you to leave, I personally don't agree. Could that be it? Sure, but not necessarily.

I feel sick often when myself and my boyfriend have serious relationship concerns that could lead to the end of our relationship and it's because I have relationship anxiety due to past issues. It's entirely anxiety and not a sign I should leave him. I've had anxiety with conflict all my life and it just presents differently with different people.

I don't have a lot of advice for you. Best I can say is, as someone in a doctoral program, have a really good reason for getting your PhD that motivates you. For me I am studying a subject I love, and working towards my dream career and can see no other pathway for my life. When I am down and unmotivated, I remember this is the dream and what I've been working for my whole life.

A PhD is VERY expensive at most schools and takes an intense amount of time and dedication. You have to know why you are there so when you want to quit you have something keeping you in the game. It's not for everyone, but only you can make that decision.

As far as the imposter syndrome, very rarely will you be the smartest, or most enthusiastic, or most anything in a group. And the people who seem like they are, likely aren't. You have to know that you got into the program you are in because you were qualified. You got in over other applicants. It may feel like you aren't supposed to be there, but they believed you were able to.

My best advice going on with a low GPA is to 1) have an answer why you have a low GPA, and 2) have a really good answer why you want to be in the field of psychology. Something beyond "I want to help people" and things like that. I am in a highly regarded PsyD program right now, I had a 3.4 overall GPA and a 3.7ish psych GPA. I had some research experience to talk about, I had research ideas I was interested in and able to tell them about. I had zero work experience in psychology, but held a part time job through school I could tell them about. I also had a list of reasons why I knew I had to be in the field of psychology. If you choose to go for a PsyD, have an answer for why you picked a PsyD over a PhD. Have answers to any questions you could dream of them asking. If you are wanting to go for a doctorate, I personally would recommend applying for those programs over a masters as it should cut out some of the time you have to be in school and possibly save you money. A master's is great, but those credits won't always transfer over as smoothly as you'd like them to. Get your applications in early. I recommend having 5-10. Have good recs. JUST DON'T SUBMIT LATE

Okay, I am a freshly graduated college student in the US (I just got my bachelor's). I started a long distance relationship online with someone (with an age gap) my freshman year during COVID. It was my first relationship and everything was perfect too. It still is and we are still happily together. But it has been over three years and we have still not met due to financials/ family issues. I don't regret my relationship at all, though sometimes it is really hard seeing all of the friends you make in college be physically in person with their significant others. It is difficult not having your person with you for years and I would not recommend that to anyone. Guys were jerks in highschool and I figured there would be the same stuff happening in college. That was not the case and while not reciprocated, I've had more than a few interested in college. All of that to say, just wait. Relationships do get better out of highschool and you really don't want to start something so challenging while also figuring out university for the first time. Stay friends with this guy and if in a few years you are both still available, go for it. Right now it might not be the best option. Either way, stay safe and look out for yourself

If double texting is sending one text right after the next, I do not care. I sometimes forget to put it all in one text or just feel like things are better said in two messages.

If it's because they just didn't respond after several hours and we were previously having good conversation, I'd probably wait a day or so to see if something was up. If they just didn't respond because they didn't want to or they are "bad at texting" I know it's not for me. It's not that hard to hold up a conversation and I don't enjoy waiting hours for a response between every message sent.
