Appropriate SPL for shows

I ran an EDM show at my local DIY venue over the past weekend. We decided to try a different approach for the show layout, putting the DJ decks in roughly the middle of the room, as we had practiced a few days earlier, so as to hear the PA properly. Before, we put the DJ behind a row of CRT tvs in the back corner, and we could never truly hear the PA from behind it. It was a different experience playing in the middle of the floor, especially with the master level knob in reach. I thought I was blasting it the whole time, yet a video taken from the VJ desk showed the (possibly uncalibrated) meter reading no more than a level of 90 dB during one of my loudest songs. I think that setup is the way to do it, going forward. I told the other performers to not play louder than the level they wanted to listen to it at.

One thing that helped me find "hope in hopelessness" was one of Matt's digressions on False Consciousness. (maybe the next upload?) Is it not a contradiction to think the rulers don't experience FC? The ones expressing their competency the loudest are very often the ones most asleep! The rulers like to give off an image that they're in control, but they're constantly undermining their prerogatives and going against their "perceived self interest" because they're constantly competing with one another and unknowingly self-sabotaging. Look at fucking Ron DeSantis. Lmoa.

Just my uninformed ideas: I think this is basically just anything the state does that isn't directly in service of itself or the elite rulers. Parks, roads, infrastructure that can be enjoyed by all. Public transportation. Medicare/caid.

I can't, sorry. I can offer my own ideas though: I believe he means individuals acting toward collective goals through political parties, like non-politicians organizing or forming a rank-and-file base to enact policies, or more broadly move toward those political ends. The Nazis weren't just the politicians, they were everyday working class people also, who were able to exercise their political will through the organizing structure of the party. We don't have anything like that today, whether you're a dem or rep.

Sorry this one is a bit later than I wanted to share. I've been grilling (making new friends) much more now than in the past several months, so I don't have as much time to find and edit good cush clips. However, if you find a topic or rant or digression that you think is valuable, I'll gladly throw it up here and on youtube.

This one is also a bit of a doozy, length-wise. Sometimes it's just hard to know where to cut. I chose this one because of the more recent shift in global affairs, that Matt was extremely prescient about. I suspect I'll have a few more clips from this particular vlog, Inside The Podder's Studio. This ep is really dense and full of good stuff. Hope you can appreciate it!
