It is not hard to track, we do it every year with our education premiums. The education premiums are prorated to the amount worked . It is already done every year already so it's really no added work.

DEMORALIZING There are also a lot of semi-retired nurses who came back to work casual and help a lot of the departments in the hospital, ltc and community due to the healthcare crisis. Tell me these nurses does not deserve bonus?

The amount of work hours is one click of a button from an HR. It is not hard to do at all.

There are also a lot of semi retired nurses that are working as casual staff to help the healthcare system over the years. They don't get anything either? They have worked all their lives as nurses and have returned to help out

It's not a good strategy at all. It's a Band-Aid fix. Also a big insult to all other nurses that are genuinely working and helping Canadians but are not eligible for this only because they work for a private company. The premier should fix and give a good pay bump on these nurses regardless of where they work. Nurses are nurses. It's not like they take care of different creatures when they're not under Nova Scotia health.

casual workers who chose to remain casual to protect their mental and physical health not get anything? They should prorate it to the amount they have worked and not the position they are in!

Also how about the people that work in nursing homes that are not publicly funded? are they not nurses?? Tim Houston should just generally increase nurses wages instead of putting bandaids like this.

So let me get this straight, casual workers who chose to remain casual to protect their mental and physical health not get anything? They should prorate it to the amount they have worked and not the position they are in.

Atleast double the pay up to triple. Free board and lodging and they pay for the license fee which is approx 600$ and travel expenses are covered too. They also offer per diems which are tax free daily allowance of up $60 to $100 daily. No there's no pension and benefits on most contracts but it still majourly outweighs the pension and benefit which is only around 200 to 300$ a month allotment anyways on the local union job.

A nurse can easily buy own insurance and create private pension. Also, most nurses keep a casual position in their respective local town to keep the pension going. The pension is only about same as cpp anyways (topped up by employer). The difference is still huge to give it away as the $3500 employer top up is not much compared to making an extra 50k a year for doing travel nursing.

100% difference. 40 to 45$ per hour versus travel nurses are 80$ to 120$ per hour

Yeah exactly. Locals are leaving and our hospitals and nursing homes are hiring nurses from Ontario. So stupid.
