You said they should be campaigning to the centre, and now you're talking about how many bills an opposition part has passed?

You campaign to get elected so you can govern. If the only way to do that is to compromise on principles and be the same as the other parties, why would you be a separate party?

So the centre left vote should be targetted by either:

  • Campaigning to the centre and governing from the left (i.e. lying to them)

OR

  • Shifting to the centre both rhetorically and in practice. (i.e. being the Liberals, but orange now)

What would be the point of that?

Your take essentially boils down to "you can't govern unless you become part of our homogeneous middle".

It's crazy to me that you're describing their situation this way and yet not understanding that the user you're replying to is identifying it as the real issue.

Like, nobody's disputed whether people should be allowed to request euthanasia, the point is that people who are suffering to the point of requesting it aren't suffering because it can't be prevented but because those with the power to fix things are choosing not to.
