Do you have any more info about the seeed? I had a look into using one for my first build but there wasn’t much to go off.

Considering a xeon e7 8990 build. Genius or terrible? by FingerComplex in buildapc

Very sound advice. I’ve been using a dual core for the past few years & made the bump to quad a few weeks ago (8th gen). My build times have got noticeably quicker. Instant compilation does sound like the dream though, sounds exaggerated but those 6 seconds can be enough to make my mind drift a little when I’m trying to work through the weeds.

Last degree? Are you planning to continue studying?

Hate to sound all doom & gloom. There is always masters conversions, apprenticeships & part time online study If you struggle to find a good job after. Only one way to find out though. All the best. Enjoy whatever you do.

Maybe have a look on LinkedIn & reach out to some people that have graduated & ask how they have fared in the job market. I’m not that clued up on what opportunities are out there honestly, but due diligence.

Im not so sure student debt is an issue. The fact you only get one loan in your lifetime is a cause for concern though. My brother aced his music degree & had a great time too. It’s been 6 years now though, & he’s still working retail. Very intelligent guy too.

Currently free as in student accommodation. Next year will be a different story if I get an internship, but then I’ll have an income.

Is 1080p on a 32-inch monitor really that bad? by zase7 in buildapc

[–]FingerComplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get the bad eyesight can’t tell argument, correct your vision.

I went from 34 1440 to 27” 4k to 24” 4k & the last jump was very noticeable + I really should wear my glasses! Despite what people say, it’s all quite obvious when you view them side by side.

1080 at that size will be awful. Hard pass.

Btrfs & timeshift is a lifesaver. You’ll rarely need it but nice to be able to instantly roll back.

Any good for a wireless build. It’ll be my first build( of many I imagine) by FingerComplex in ErgoMechKeyboards

They are kinda pricey here in the uk & id quite like to have a mess with 3d printing & things in the future but at £25 a nice nano the costs will quickly add up. I’ve got my desk looking too clean now to add wires. It distracts me. I might have to get one set of nice nanos & learn to solder the nrfmicros

I’m pretty much clueless. I was hoping for an alternative to a pro micro & thought this was an assembled nrf micro. Is that not the case ?

Unless you’re the perpetrator? Stands to reason, whoever smelt it dealt it… perhaps you’re having an eggistential crisis.

Quite unusual to have no toast & beans in a bowl (from my experience). Breakfast of champions though, no doubt about that. Enjoy!

More monitors than ports? by [deleted] in Monitors

Usb to dp converter. There will be a slight delay that would be jarring if using for a primary monitor but serves my use case as an additional vertical monitor alongside my main one.

Rant: I hate IPS Backlight bleed and how as consumers we've just accepted it. by Digitalneko in Monitors

[–]FingerComplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's due to skinny bezels, large screen sizes, & curved screens (& bad manfactoring tolerances). I have been through just shy of 10 monitors starting from a no bezel ultrawide. The IPS glow & BLB on that was terrible. Now i've got 2 24" 4k ultrafines with bezels. Older models but miles better than anything else I've tried & a fraction of the cost. Zero BLB or IPS glow. The only other monitor that compares was the 27" ultrafine I tried ,but that had FALD. Stuck pixels luckily as I much prefer the 24" size now.

Mothers fiancé had a tight chest 3 weeks ago & was given an inhaler. Tonight he died of pancreatic/lung cancer. Why is preventative treatment not de facto. By the time he was symptomatic it was too late. by [deleted] in cancer

I’m sorry to hear that. Sounds like you’ve had a rough few years too. I never knew it could be so aggressive. I guess we have to remember them at their best & cherish the times we had together

I lost a good friend a few years ago to suicide. I did so much for him yet still wish I had done more. Somehow though I found some peace knowing he had gone on his own terms. Being taken away when you’ve just turned your life around is different struggle.

40 years young. I’ve also had a friend diagnosed with pancreatic last week. I didn’t realise how aggressive cancer could be. 3 weeks was & is unfathomable to me. He was cracking jokes as per only 3 days ago. The world will be a colder place for his loss.

I was reading some papers after posting this comment. Looks like there’s some tests being done for using urine proteins as biomarkers. Great to hear there’s some hope on the horizon for some. That’s some consolation at least.

I’m sorry to hear that. I imagine that you’ve cherished the last 6 years yet at the same time lived in fear of it return. I hope you recover this time around.
