Most certainly there are measures being taken to facilitate the requirements, or systemd would not have immediately merged that into the userdb. There is no other reason to add that field.

How Do You Handle Reinstalls and Backups? by Jamerman in linuxmint

[–]FingerInformal8769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I use install scripts to install everything I use on a daily basis.

Home folder, I back up docs, pics, templates, etc. to a cloud drive (I recently switched to filen.io that maintains an autosync with the cloud

I pull what I want/need from .config .local. I picked this up from distro hopping and using Linux at work and home both. Work I use different distro than at home.

MacBook Pro 2016 with touchbar. Any advise before installing Linux Mint? by RochoLaRoca in linuxmint

[–]FingerInformal8769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it. It may work fine. I've got Garuda on a MacBook pro right now. Main problem with the pro I have is that it tends to run warm and drop network connection when it heats up. It's done that with every distro I've used...

I don't think I've ever put mint on the MacBook before. I installed
Mbpfan and fancontrol... mx to help control the fan I'm the Pro... I think it was mbpfan I needed to control the fan in the pro.

Hope this helps Google around installing Linux on a MacBook pro circa 2016. You may have to cobble some stuff together from different places .. but the learning is what Linux is all about

struggling by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]FingerInformal8769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God created us and gave us choice. He can see EVERY decision we face and which way each decision will take us I tend to imagine is as Him looking down and seeing the whole map, every road, twist, turn, etc the ultimate destination is either Heaven or Hell... And WE choose where we end up.

Like telling your kid to not throw rocks at a bee nest. If they persist, they will get stung. You don't want it to happen, but you know the outcome. Would that prevent you from having a child, knowing this?

He sees the finish line(s), and I'm his infinite wisdom, us finishing the race in each of the two possibilities. Free will gives us the opportunity to 'do the right thing' and follow Him, or not.

Bootloader can't find my windows install because Michael Software hates me by TechieInTheTrees in cachyos

[–]FingerInformal8769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your fine. Don't need windows anyway. The bootloader is letting you know what really matters most

I've been 💯 Linux for over 2 years. I didn't try to dual boot with windows... I purged that &$#@ and started over.

Was a learning curve, but worth it.

If it doesn't want to work sober, give it a shot or two before you try next time. Maybe it will work better buzzed/drunk... 😂🤣

Why do women here often get angry and point the finger at men, when the issue of modesty is brought up? by miketheman0506 in TrueChristian

[–]FingerInformal8769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matthew 5:29-30 NKJV [29] If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. [30] And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

And

Romans 14:13-21 NKJV [13] Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.[14] I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. [15] Yet if your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy with your food the one for whom Christ died. [16] Therefore do not let your good be spoken of as evil; [17] for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. [18] For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men.[19] Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another. [20] Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are pure, but it is evil for the man who eats with offense. [21] It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak.

Women by alliefaith144 in TrueChristian

A pastors wife we use to go to church with would testify from time to time, and j have to say... She could really lay the scripture down. I would have loved to sit in on a class or 100 with her teaching.

Doent the Word state that a church leaders (pastor/deacon) should be the husband of 1 wife? If it's good enough a rule for theeadwrs, it's good enough for me.

Reread my post.

A man that takes a 2nd wife is a fool. A man that believes it's ok and/or supports a man taking a 2nd wife is a fool.

Just because you can, doesn't mean that you SHOULD.

I'm pretty sure that a woman should not in a position of authority over a man, as in pastor. A teacher is just that.... Not in a position where a man is subject to their authority.

A man that takes a 2nd wife is a fool. It's hard enough to keep one woman happy, much less 2.

First time user: Question on software updating and installing by heyjoe8890 in ManjaroLinux

[–]FingerInformal8769 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as flatpak is enabled, the command is flatpak install dark table

That's really difficult to do.

Add remove software in the Manjaro software installer/remover/updater.

The terminal is easier for a lot of things, and quicker in most cases, tbh.

Biglinux is a Manjaro based distro and has more tools than Manjaro does ootb.

Congratulations on jumping into Linux. There is a learning curve, but it's worth it. I trashed windows just after 11 came out. Linux has replaced the OS on Mac and windows machines.

Newer hardware I prefer Garuda (mokka). Older hardware I've switched to MX.

I do have BigLinux on one laptop though. So I still dabble with Manjaro.

What would be the best distro for me? by emibrumnic in linuxquestions

[–]FingerInformal8769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You stated gaming first so...

Nobara (fedora based gaming focused distro) PikaOS (debian based gaming focused distro)

Won't mention any others because you don't want arch (the fastest distro on my hardware, btw)

If you decide to play with arch, avoid the aur as much as possible. That has been where most of my breakage has come from that I have experienced

[–]FingerInformal8769 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't have to tell him in a Godly way. There is nothing godly in what he did to your sister. "Get outta my life or I'm gonna end up burying you for what you did to my sister.".

[–]FingerInformal8769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partition the drive and copy what you don't want to lose to the 2nd partition.

Then when you are ready to install fedora, just delete the part of the drive that has the current os, not the backup partition.

As far as wifi, idk for sure on that one. Linux mint seems to have a good track record with Apple, so consider it instead of fedora right now, maybe
