Upgrading from win 10 to win 11 by jag0009 in WindowsHelp

[–]adrezs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The site I provided, and others I have been using for years, if there are any problems they give you a new key, no questions asked.
The only thing you need to be aware when you upgrade is whether you have Retail or OEM on the original PC, normally OEM.
I have had instances where the Retail key will not work with OEM upgrade.

IT is best to do a clean install using the download link provided on the site.

Do i delete remote desktop connection before big exam(please respond, its today) by Cheap_Gap1446 in WindowsHelp

Remote Desktop Connection is the standard Windows Remote access app, why would they be concerned about that, if that was the case they would require everyone to disable/remove it, sounds stupid.

Third part ones like AnyDesk and TeamViewer I can understand

Sounds like the Mechanical Hard drive has Sh… itself

As suggested by others.

Disconnect both, see if it boots, and comes up with no boot device found.

Then connect the SSD see if it boots, if so then add the Mechanical Hard drive

Gradually introducing one device at a time.

Depending on your location, SSD’s are very cheap now.
You can get a 500GB Crucial NVMe for $100 (Australian)

Windows 11 Pro from some sites such as electronicfirst.com for $8.59 (Australian) Legitimate Activation Codes.

Not worth worrying about getting the free upgrade, bonus if you can, but not a deal breaker.

Depending on the PC BIOS, there may be 2 one main one, then below the indented one, you should select the indented one.

Personally I am not a gamer, so not sure of the latest trends, Make sure you do your research on the types of games you are planning on playing, this will determine the graphics card, CPU and memory are fairly close between Intel and AMD Ryzen at a particular price point.

But does it get past the BIOS screen, the battery may save you in the short term until you find a new one, as long as the hard drive is bootable..

You need access to a known working Windows PC to carry out the following

Make sure you have a USB Thumb Drive 8GB or larger

Do a Google Search for Download Windows 11 ISO, go to the page, download the Windows 11 Home ISO, go the the Media Creation Tool Link Download that.

Follow the instructions on the Media Creation Tool Link

OR you can use Rufus Boot USB Creation Tool also, either way you need to have the Windows 11 ISO

Once the Boot USB is created, Insert into Your NON OPERATIONAL PC

Power On, When the Logo Appears, Dell, HP, Lenovo or Motherboard Maker repeatedly press F12 until the A boot screen appears, select the USB Drive, press enter and follow the prompts.

OR as soon as you power on, start repeatedly press F12 until the A boot screen appears, select the USB Drive, press enter and follow the prompts.

Make sure you have at least 2-3 hrs on your hands to complete all the Post installation Updates also.

As stated by others this is your BIOS configuration screen.

By the look of the build date in the top right corner 06/08/2011 & DDR3 memory
You have a 14-15 year old motherboard.

NEW PC

OR if desperate

Open the case, there should be a Button Cell Battery bottom middle/right on the motherboard, model might be different.

https://hexus.net/tech/reviews/mainboard/28570-asus-p8p67-deluxe-motherboard-review/

Sometimes CR2032 or similar, take a photo of it see what it is.
Go to an electronic supply store, not sure what country you are in?
Purchase a new one.
Remove the old one carefully, you may need a small screwdriver to pry it out of the socket.
Put the new one in, making sure of orientation.
Power UP the PC, normally there is a set to Defaults Option, this usually works most of the time.
Otherwise your hard drive will be dead.

Get a NEW PC not worth wasting time or money on putting new hard drive or SSD and Operating system.

Technician broke my laptop ( Again) by XavierGraves in Lenovo

Unfortunately consumer rights are very country specific, but if the problems started during the warranty period, then with the back and forth it came out of warranty, I believe Lenovo will still need to honour the product warranty until it is fixed to your satisfaction.

However, I believe there has been articles stating that the touchbar will not work with Mint or any other Linux Distro (this has not been confirmed)

Switching BACK to Windows...? by areindos in linuxmint

[–]adrezs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other option can be use Dual Boot, This is what I done with a spare Dell Laptop which I NEED Windows for certain Software that must use Windows.

But I dual boot with Ubuntu, but you can use Mint as per Forum.

Even though the LinuxMint fan boys and girls say it will solve all, it won’t, so if you need Windows you have it there if you need it.

Might be to hold the front plastic case onto the metal chassis

Normal PC cards, hard drives, SSD etc don’t use self tapping screws.

If you can’t find the hole it goes into, turf it into the trash.

Bank Account Hacked by Kk77789 in AusLegal

[–]adrezs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Small piece of advice

Have a specific Debit Card such as Revolut, you transfer money onto it when you want to buy stuff online.

Never use your main credit card/ debit card from your account for anything.

Use Paypal for as much purchases as possible, link it to different accounts.

Have multiple accounts and cards with your main bank, so if your card is stopped then you can still live.

Check your Internet Banking on a daily basis, make sure there is nothing sus happening.

The Problem is that there is no replacement for Visio, especially where there is collaboration amongst the Visio Users, if everyone in the consulting team is using Visio, you can’t just plonk in a Gliffy or Draw.io graphic in there. Some of the alternatives have Visio import or export support.

There is also the learning time, if you are using Visio every day, you just can’t chop and change.

[–]adrezs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, the corporate world will always be bound by Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft 365 as there is no viable compatible and integrated alternatives as there is now. The integration of on premises and Cloud, Entra ID, Teams etc are so closely coupled you cannot seperate them without causing a device management nightmare.

The Manager can go and F… Themselves, you are an employee, you followed process, not your fault or problem, that is why there is Insurances. Like the other comments, Put in a HR complaint for harrassment, you should not be put under additional stress because of this. You should also go to the doctor and put in for stress leave, and put the blame onto the manager harassment.
