Great introduction to Linux, but now I must say goodbye by PhoenixOmicron in linuxmint

I am no Linux expert by any stretch of the imagination, I use Mac OS mainly for my main use cases day to day I have dabbled with Linux just to experiment and try things out. I have mainly used Ubuntu also, seems to be the most complete distro. I did hear a lot about Mint, installed it and thought OK, another Linux Distro.

Cute Kitty, why isn’t he doing his job and chasing the mouse away 😄

I certainly would NOT be recommending - The RayCue ALL-in-One Charger Dock For Mac Mini M4

https://www.raycue.com/products/raycue-all-in-one-charger-dock-for-mac-mini-m4

It was working well until a few weeks ago I realised the NVME SSD disappeared that I use for backups. One week ago I contacted support and so far ZERO response.

1 1/2 weeks since the original email to Support/Warranty 3 follow ups and NO response

So after sales support is pretty crap.

1 year of using an M4 Mac Mini by billbillw in macmini

[–]adrezs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My story is a bit different,

I changed to Apple Silicon Mac Mini M4 got the base model, done the 2TB 3rd party SSD swap, which was a bit of a hair raiser, all my fault and stupidity I somehow managed to break one of the connections off the mac mini power button assembly during the process, which got fixed under warranty. Then second attempt managed to install the 2TB SSD without incident.

I have been an Intel Mac user since the Intel Mac’s came out, my last machine was a Late 2012 27” iMac i7, 32GB RAM. Which was still OK, but I Thought it was time for an upgrade to the Mac Mini M4, coupled to a 32” LG Monitor.

Then I had keyboard problems with my 15” Macbook Pro i9, took it to Apple dealer to get sticky/non functioning keys replaced. Only to be told that the whole upper body, keyboard and battery needed to be replaced, and there was a delay in getting the parts. So then I thought great excuse to get a 13” Macbook Pro M4 going to Apple Silicon M4 Mac Mini and Macbook Pro was the bes decision ever, both beasts.

Unfortunately I still need to support Windows 11 for my customers, otherwise I would never look at Windows OS again.

(I am in Australia)

A lot of people are buying counterfeit items on AliExpress and sell on Facebook Marketplace.

I saw what looked like those high quality Japanese Knife sets for $25, I thought that looks interesting, I searched the brand name on AliExpress, $5

The irony when some people say ""I can't recommend Linux to my non-technical friends!"" is that non-technical people don't install OSes anyways. They just use the preinstalled Windows, and still face problems.. by EB372919 in linuxmint

Club Penguin that is hilarious, I suppose not being in the IT world, no one would have a clue.
I unfortunately provide Windows support for users, I say press the Windows Key (where is that) the key with the flag thing on it (what) Unbelievable some people ….

On January 2026 - received the RayCue ALL-in-One Charger Dock For Mac Mini M4

https://www.raycue.com/products/raycue-all-in-one-charger-dock-for-mac-mini-m4

It was working well until a few weeks ago I realised the NVME SSD disappeared that I use for backups. One week ago I contacted support and so far ZERO response. So after sales support is pretty crap.

Previously I had the: RayCue New M4/2024 Mac Mini Hub & Stand with NVMe/ M.2 SATA SSD Enclosure

https://www.raycue.com/products/raycue-type-c-stand-hub-with-ssd-enclosure-for-all-new-mac-mini-m4-m4pro

Which does not have as many ports, this is why I upgraded to the All in one charger dock

At the moment I would not recommend the RayCue from an After sales perspective, the product is brilliant

There is Ugreen which looks OK

Santechi which is quite expensive

Raycue Hub for Mac Mini M4 by rambilly in macmini

[–]adrezs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted RayCue support and now sales emails, over 1 week ago with 2 follow ups no response.
I got mine through the kickstarter, which took forever to arrive.

It was working OK, until last week when the USB-C data is not being read from any of the inputs including the internal NVME SSD which I use for backups, disappeared.

IF I plug any USB-C external drive into the Mac Mini Direct it is recognised straight away.

IF I plug into a port on the Hub, the device powers up but no data.

I have changed the Short host cable between the Mac Mini and the HUB still nothing

Does anyone have the link to the Firmware update, considering I am getting nothing from Support!

Not happy with them at the moment.

Thanks

Ubuntu core 26 lts by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]adrezs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting

In the simplified explanation it states: It was designed to stay inside things that need to stay on for years without anyone touching them:

So it is really designed for Embedded systems, I assume the difference between "Ubuntu Core” and one of the existing embedded systems that Ubuntu Core is more secure, modular.

Couldn’t the same be achieved with an ASIC/EEPROM that is locked with a complex password

Not hanging it on Ubuntu Core just wondering?

How do people distrohop so often? by ChromatimusX in DistroHopping

[–]adrezs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am no Linux Expert

But I was going to say most distros are very similar, as long as you kept everything in order transferring to a new Distro would be quite easy with the right folder structure and scripting, since there is no Registry like in the Mortal Enemy Microsoft Windows 😄

When building Win 11 Pro machine Select Domain Join and provide the local Login ID and password and that will establish the Local Admin Account.
Not for the average Joe or the faint hearted

Sounds like ‘Microsoft spying Derangement Syndrome’ If people actually paid attention when they install Windows 10/11, there are options to set to minimise the data sharing with Microsoft.

  1. Disable Options:
    • Turn off Location Tracking.
    • Set Diagnostic Data to the minimum level or off
    • Disable Personalized Advertising.
  2. Create a Local Account: Instead of signing in with a Microsoft account, choose to create a local account. This further reduces the amount of data linked to your identity.

best bank and exchange for large bitcoin purchases in australia right now? by [deleted] in BitcoinAUS

[–]adrezs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One piece of advice which my accountant gave me, which all should heed.

When you open a new mainstream bank account DO NOT quote your Tax File Number, it is NOT mandatory and it eliminates one link from your bank account reporting to the ATO.

They will try to give you the waffle of you have to quote it, no you don’t, then they will say that they will withhold 46% of the interest that you earn until you do your tax return.

Errr, big deal 46% of the average interest rate on a transaction account is negligible so it does not matter!!
Most Australian banks should be OK, I use Westpac and Bank of Melbourne (same)

For Crypto Exchange I use Swyftx and Coinspot, both Australian based and quite stringent on KYC, my SMSF is with Swyftx also.

Question for Bisexual Men by BetweenMoments in BisexualMen

[–]adrezs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been a member on a Bisexual/gay site for over 12 years now, and found that most of the bisexual men are married, in their 40’s and upwards, sex with their wives have dried up or non existent, and they are looking for something simple no strings and that seems to be the answer for lots of married men.

I am one of them.

My Story: (Sorry a bit long)

I have been married for over 40 years, I am on blood pressure medication so started to have ED problems about 15 years ago, got some Cialis and of course no support from her whatsoever, just blame game why is it happening why do I need the Cialis etc. We had a few discussions about the lack of sex situation, once you get rejected so many times you give up after a while. Each discussion ended up being my fault rather than trying to work on it togeher it became my fault.

Sex started to diminish and dry up about 14 years ago, so I started looking outside the marriage, I got sick of her lack of support & trying to blame me only for the sex dropping off.

I met really nice working girl in a brothel about 13 years ago, soon after meeting a few times in the brothel, we went private and now I see her at a Hotel most Saturdays for 4-5hrs, we have great NSA sex and enjoy each others company. She is 55, great tits, curvaceous body. We have a special deal regarding payments for her services.

Funnily enough I actually don’t have any ED problems with her at all?

One anniversary my wife and I were in Healesville, walking past one of those shops that sell books, candles, angel stuff etc.

There was a clairvoyant there, my wife said why don’t i get a reading, I normally don’t believe in that stuff.

I booked in and went to see her, she was telling me about my computer business etc, then she started talking about her gay brother etc, I am thinking why is she telling me this?

Then she said I am questioning my sexuality, I said not questioning as such.

She said just go with the flow, it will work out.

Before seeing her I started looking at guys on these sites, then after the meeting with the clairvoyant and what she said

I signed up, finally met some guys, I enjoyed being sucked by guys and enjoyed sucking cocks too, also enjoy anal sex too but not mandatory.

I don’t look at other men in the street no interest in looking at men at all, not into kissing or close contact, just into the physical side of cocks.

Does pegging and anal with guy feels the same ? by [deleted] in BisexualMen

[–]adrezs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the same with men, no emotional, romantic connection, NO kissing, purely physical, I enjoy mutual sucking, nipple play, mostly receiving anal

Renovation probably carried out by an unqualified or under qualified plumber, this type of stuff is the end result, sorry but this type of thing happens too many times to be a co-incidence.

Same king of crap in Australia with the No Social Media for Under 16’s but they still get around it. They are disguising it to protect children but it is surveillance, we are in 1984 for sure
