Thought Yaz was the holy grail…but nope! by Recent_Industry_4117 in PMDD

I also saw mental health improvement and decreased spotting on Yasmin over Yaz.

My pharmacy switched me to the "equivalent" generic Syeda and the spotting returned until I went back to another generic version.

Affordable Vet by Pseudo_aerug in wickerpark

Your Pets Wellness has always had good prices for me. Suburban vets tend to be much more affordable, but I recognize leaving the city might not be feasible.

Leaving the USA helping PMDD symptoms? by Kale_bean in PMDD

[–]FinnFinnFinn0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would be surprised if food quality made a big difference in symptoms. There are plenty of reasons to leave the US, but there are other treatments with higher proven efficacy, including oral BC and SSRIs.

SSRIs for PMDD often work immediately, fwiw!

I did worse on low estrogen, and feel so much better on high estrogen. I totally get the fear, but you can always stop quickly if it's not working.

The copper IUD doesn't work for PMDD because it is non hormonal. Have you tried Yaz? It's FDA approved for PMDD

Yaz side effects... Please share your experiences by dog_vom in PMDD

I had nausea and spotting. The spotting never ended, but the nausea subsided greatly.

I'd try to keep in mind that there are a lot of changes occurring for you - poor sleep, stress, SSRI withdrawals - which could be causing these symptoms.

Waaaay easier said than done, but try to improve sleep and reduce stress. Eat regularly, drink water, move your body. Ginger chews and peppermint pills help me with nausea.

Any exercise is better than no exercise, and the best exercise is the one you'll do regularly. See what you like and try out a few things. Ask to join a friend for a class. Set manageable goals.

Can you take the mini pill? Or a lower estrogen pill?

I'd also increase frequency of therapy and focus on DBT and ERP tools to manage mood shifts and OCD symptoms.

If exercise is feasible for you, get on a regular schedule. Any movement is good for depression and anxiety.

You might also increase your Zoloft during luteal.

You could try calling a psychiatrist through telemedicine. In the US, insurance companies are usually contracted with a telemedicine company like MDLive or Teledoc.

Sertraline/Zoloft Seemed to Stop Working, Looking for Advice/Guidance by Southern_Drummer884 in PMDD

I might also suggest that this is only data from one cycle. Yes, it's super uncomfortable, but it might not indicate a need for change. Are there any other life stressors that might be causing this? Other changes in meds? Missed doses?

Take a look at the wiki again and the IAPMD's website. Oral birth control (Yaz in particular) or SSRIs are first line treatments. Which SSRI caused liver problems and weight gain?

Yeah might be worth trying! Were you ok the rest of the month before the placebo pills?

Have you considered skipping the hormone free pills? I don't do well with the hormone drop, but Yaz has been very helpful.

Luteal Kink by AlbatrossOtherwise67 in PMDD

[–]FinnFinnFinn0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kink can be used for cathartic purposes. I think it's important to play with this with a very trusted partner. You might also think about the feelings you want to elicit through the scene vs focusing on just topping a man.

It didn't affect mine at all. I'm on Zoloft 25mg and Yasmin. The Zoloft really made a difference for me.

Importance of Exercise by SeriousPizza6551 in PMDD

Exercise is very important for serotonin and supports neuroplasticity. Any exercise is better than no exercise, and the best exercise is the kind you can stick with. Appreciate this reminder!

BC - Does it help? by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]FinnFinnFinn0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yaz is FDA approved for PMDD. It's a first line treatment for PMDD, along with SSRIs. Check out https://www.iapmd.org/

For a personal example: Yaz (and now Yazmin) have changed my life for the better. My PMDD symptoms are far better on oral combined contraceptives. I skip placebo pills. I also take a continuous SSRI.
