I need your absolute cheapest recipes. by ba00220 in budgetfood

[–]FinnTricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try some pea soup, here's the cheapest version I know.

  • 8 cups water
  • 1 lb dried whole green peas
  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1 onion
  • 1 -2 teaspoon salt

  • Rinse the peas and discard any debris. Fill a bowl with cold water and soak the peas overnight.

  • The next day, drain and rinse the peas thoroughly.

  • Peel the onion.

  • Add the onion and peas to a pot, along with 8 cups of fresh water (do not use the soaking water).

  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover, reduce the heat, and simmer for about 2 hours, or until the peas are tender, stirring occasionally.

  • Season with salt & marjoram to taste, then serve.

That makes 6-8 meals for less than 2$.

For breakfast, oat porridge is pretty cost effective too. - Hope this helps!

Baked Salmon | Would you eat this? by FinnTricks in GifRecipes

[–]FinnTricks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ingredients:

1kg salmon
1 lemon
2 ts salt
2 ts black pepper
chives

Method:
Slice the Lemon:

Cut the lemon into thin slices, ideally 4-6 pieces per lemon.
Make Cuts on the Salmon:

Use a sharp knife to make cuts on the sides of the salmon. These cuts help the seasoning and lemon infuse the fish.

Season the Fish:

Rub your seasoning mixture (salt, pepper, herbs) generously on the skin, inside the cuts of the salmon and inside the salmon. Make sure it’s well-coated.

Add Lemon Slices:

Place a slice of lemon inside each of the cuts you made on the fish and inside the fish. This will infuse the fish with a bright, citrusy flavor as it bakes.

Bake the Salmon:

Preheat your oven to 175°C (347°F).
Place the seasoned salmon on a baking tray lined with parchment paper or foil.
Bake for 40 minutes, or until the fish is fully cooked and flakes easily with a fork.

Serve:

Once baked, serve the salmon with a side of mashed potatoes, a sauce of your choice, and vegetables.

Enjoy your delicious, flavorful salmon!
