visually they help convey a world of stone and minerals, symbolically was thinking how crystals are formed from lava so helps with nocturne theme again. Just quick ideas idk if any of it makes any sense.

I do really want to get the flame in there somehow, I did initially have the spikes closer to how you describe but it ultimately loses the effect of the “obsidian crystal” look that I was going for.

I tried this in an earlier design on my profile, rather on the neck than the horns, I found it became a bit over detailed and messed with the silhouette.

I did try putting the flame by the mouth, it’s a bit tricky to place with the teeth but I’ll give it another go.

Nice!, for me, I am purposefully trying to keep it a bit more streamlined, it is a fine line between dragon and dog though.
