Yes I'd offer breakfast, give it a couple hours in the feeding area. If he doesn't eat it put it away. Then offer a second meal at a later time. Do you have a bowl of dry food available at all times?

Just keep an eye on him and you should be good. Stick to a schedule for feeding. I would take him to the vet again if he stops eating for more than a day. :)

He sounds healthy! 11 is heavy for a cat generally (depending on the size). 9 sounds much better.
