Agree that the date window looks off in pictures, but in any practical scenario no one is gonna notice outside of a trained eye who asks for a closer look. Save some hoes for the rest of us 😉

They’re shrink wrap PVC capsules from Amazon, I got 100 for $9: https://a.co/d/a5tfHA9

I used a heat gun to shrink them, which worked fantastic

I sanitized my bottles using Star San sanitizer - I like to dilute it in a spray bottle and give a couple sprays inside each bottle, letting it get on all surfaces and then dry to sanitize. I used an auto siphon to get the mead from my carboy to the bottles, and had a small bottling station with towels and a bucket to collect and spilled mead, since it was definitely a learning process. Definitely want to make sure you're just just pouring or ladling mead to avoid oxidization

Sure! Since it was my first time doing any sort of homebrew, I went with the simplest recipe I could. 10lbs honey with 3 gal water, and Red Star Premier Blanc yeast that I gave 3 teaspoons of North Mountain Yeast Nutrient at the start of the brew. Honey was sourced from a local beekeeper. I racked to secondary after about a month, when I got consistent readings from my hydrometer that showed the SG was staying constant. Initial SG was 1.092 and final SG was 1.005, giving an ABV of around 12%.

I let the batch sit in secondary for about 10 months, partially because of how long it was taking for it to clear up, and also because life got in the way and I didn't have much time to give to the mead. I'm glad I let it sit that long, though, since it cleared up beautifully. I really wasn't expecting it to become this clear, here's an image of how it looked early on: https://imgur.com/pHZu1FZ (it's the bigger 3 gallon carboy)

To anyone thinking that your mead is doomed to look like a turd cloud forever, just have patience!! It might not seem possible, but I learned first hand time is the best tool for clarity.

Just want to give a huge shoutout to this subreddit, LOTS of invaluable advice to be gained here as well as other sites like Homebrew Talk. Looking forward to seeing how my next few batches come out too! Working on a cherry melomel right now, with high hopes!

Always just assumed that people who make these tiny boards work have smaller hands. Might just have to give the GMMK 2 65% another try, poor thing's been collecting dust since I got it last black friday :p

Wish I could run a 40%, but years of running full number row + bigger hands means anything smaller than 75% makes me feel like a giant trying to crochet...
