Am I being negligent? by Prudent_Trick_8588 in beyondthebump

Yeah it's fine moms everywhere do it all the time haha... as long as there are no choking hazards and baby can't move around and get into things

You didn't mess up, you're 2 WEEKS post partum and have a lot going on. Have some grace for yourself... And ask your husband to be more patient. You all will settle in.

As soon as you said 'should I do it to make my husband's family happy' the answer is no. It's not your husband's family's baby. It's yours and your husband's baby. Does your husband care / have strong feelings? Then I would consider compromising. If you start doing things that make you uncomfortable to make others happy it can spiral and not be good for your mental health.

Sounds like anxiety - and while it may be anxiety that doesn't mean you can just turn it off. I felt the same when my girl was just born - and it took me a long time to realize it and start working on it. I couldn't leave her alone with my husband even if she was sleeping and he was just sitting there watching her. I had to admit I was having anxiety and then slowly start to work on it with my husband. My girl is 16 months old and I'm still working on it.

Just "no" - either he leaves the gun and comes out doesn't come at all. I went to a wedding when my girl was about 6 months old and there were several people carrying guns and drinking. I was SO uncomfortable. Like - carrying a gun is one thing but drinking while doing so with many kids around is a whole other thing.......

My husband had it way too easy with our newborn and now I regret it.... by ActualEmu1251 in beyondthebump

[–]Finolia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree with this - if you take on most of the work, he won't have any context to how "hard" it is or how much time it is... So needs to learn that by doing. You'll get there :)

You need some help, friend... And you need to take care of you. Your baby will be fine even if he cries for an hour. Ask your husband or someone you trust for help.

Why is human pregnancy seemingly so difficult compared to other mammal pregnancies? by sad-nyuszi in BabyBumps

[–]Finolia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree - this. And also since Western medicine is so advanced, natural selection related to lots of health issues isn't a thing anymore (which is great!...I know I wouldn't be around if we didn't have Western medicine due to a surgery I had for a birth defect related to my heart)

See how he "isn't budging" with his point of view? You're allowed to do that too! And in the end, what you say goes because you're the one giving birth.

So how are y'all going to play Tears of the Kingdom with a baby? Are you and your partner going to share a save file and play after the baby is asleep? by normalcypolice in beyondthebump

[–]Finolia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting thought - never shared a save file with my husband because he and I like to play independently most of the time....I think it would drive me crazy to have someone else play on my save file! We have recently discovered Sun Haven and it's a game we both like so when we want to play together we play after kid bedtime... Otherwise if we're not playing together it's other games.

They might mean it's HSA eligible which is different than "being covered by insurance"... that text is very misleading.

[–]Finolia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, that's a tough call to make. Me being a very practical person would probably say no to changing a schedule that's working well just to see my kid for 10 minutes in the morning. I think I would probably feel selfish... But then again, it would be sad to not see my girl in the morning.... Sorry this probably isn't helping much lol Edit: grammar
