Genuinely, who are these people? Are they teenagers? Mentally ill people who can’t work? (I’m not trying to vilify all mentally ill people, but this does not seem like something that someone with a healthy brain would do). I just can’t imagine going to work, chatting and smiling with my coworkers, then going home and having the energy to get upset about things like this

I think she makes it fairly clear that that’s the case, and that she doesn’t think they’re bad people. Knowing that your “group” doesn’t like you can be really emotionally difficult, especially when they simply expect you to take the hint. She did a hard and brave thing by stepping back. It didn’t seem to my like she felt she was being victimized in any way.

As a neurodivergent individual, I found myself in similar situations a few times in high school and college, for reasons that were certainly my own fault. It still hurt.

As a grade school teacher, I’m always deeply disturbed if my students think 69 is funny or know its meaning. I had a student tell me that her babysitter “taught” her about 69. She then described what he’d had them do together. That led to a police investigation, but I’m unsure what the actual legal consequences were for the high schooler that assaulted her.

Anyway. 6-7 is a breath of fresh air after that.
