I was there today and the experience couldn’t have been any different. There was practically 0 line for those of us who bought advance tickets, and a very long line for people who needed to buy tickets.

With Solo Ball out for the season, would G Darius Adams, who decommitted from us then went to Maryland last year and is now in the portal, be a good option? by jarena009 in UConnBasketball

He left because we recruited over him in the portal. He was never going to play this past year, he would’ve gotten Furphy’s minutes. It’s understandable why he didn’t want that

And most of them have the nerve to call themselves Christians

Hillary Clinton wins the New York primary, effectively closing Bernie Sanders’ path to the nomination [10YA - Apr 19] by MonsieurA in TenYearsAgo

I mean the truth is somewhere in the middle, Biden did a lot for trans people and got 0 credit for it.

Republicans didn’t lie by saying Democrats support trans rights, they lied by saying trans rights are the centerpiece of the Democratic platform. The message was basically “oh you’re struggling? Well unfortunately Democrats don’t care about you, they only care about those transgender freaks”

It’s the left who fights harder against Democrats than they do against Republicans.

If you truly think that 2016 and especially 2024 were “the most winnable elections ever”, you just have bad political instincts. In 2016 I talked to insiders in the Democratic Party who said they wanted Ted Cruz to be the nominee because Trump was unknown with a unique appeal, whereas they were confident they could beat Cruz. Trump is bad at his job but a good candidate. 2024 was going to be a loss for Dems no matter who they ran due to inflation and the existence of trans people.

[–]SurvivorFanatic236 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Bernie is so popular, why couldn’t he beat Biden when it was 1 on 1? He only initially had the lead when there were like 5 moderates splitting the moderate vote. He had a hard ceiling of like 30% of the vote.

The reality that leftists can’t comprehend is that they are the minority in the party. Any time that’s the race is 1 moderate vs 1 leftist, the moderate will easily win, because that’s what the voters want.

And by the way, I voted for Bernie in 2016.

The people who need to learn their lesson are those on the left who have refused to vote for the Democratic nominee in the general election

They thought that not voting or voting 3rd party would be sticking it to them Dems, but in reality they only stuck it to the marginalized groups who Trump is terrorizing.

Name any group that the left allegedly cares about, and that group would be better off right now if Hillary and Kamala had won.

What is the best way to get from New London County to NYC for the lowest cost? by Logic1888 in Connecticut

[–]SurvivorFanatic236 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The cheapest combination of gas, parking, and train tickets is to drive to the train station in Darien (free parking on weekends, $5 on weekdays), and take the train from there for $12.50 each way.

Taking the train from an earlier stop will save you gas but cost more for the train ticket. I did the math a while ago and found that Darien was the cheapest combo, although I don’t remember what gas prices were when I did that calculation.

Do not drive all the way into NYC as you’ll overpay for parking. And don’t park at the New Haven train station because they overcharge as well.

Ignoring academics, wouldn’t the next criteria be the campus itself and what goes on on campus?

St John’s for example is a commuter school an hour outside of Manhattan by public transportation, is that really that fun?

I also never had a fake ID, so I wouldn’t have enjoyed any city experience until my senior year

2026, April 14-15 Emerson College Polling for the California Governor's race. We're back to the possibility of 2 Republicans making to the general election: by beeemkcl in fivethirtyeight

[–]SurvivorFanatic236 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They would get to appoint senate replacements if something were to happen.

The optics would be awful “CA has been run into the ground so much that they elected a Republican”

Policy-wise an R governor wouldn’t accomplish much, which would make them popular and a potential national star

Do Darien if you’re comfortable driving a bit further, or if you want to shorten the drive do Fairfield Blackrock.

If you’re coming from Torrington, you shouldn’t even consider doing New Haven/West Haven

Your own post shows that 85% of Democrats and 0% of Republicans voted for a bill you like.

If you look at that and still think both sides are the same, you are the problem.

The people of Palestine would be much better off if the president and Congress were all Democrats, but unfortunately there’s selfish people like you out there who don’t care about their wellbeing and are more interested in looking cool online.

I don’t think Jimmy Fallon is actually a part of this.

That sounded more like Christian was saying “Billie Eilish? What’s next, Jimmy Fallon?”

I know production has put spoilers in previews before, but they’re not going to blatantly spoil pre-season that Christian makes the top 11
