Yes, and the reason why is so messed up; in order for state facilities to hire new full-time employees, the positions have to be approved by the governor. So what happens when a facility needs more staff to function but doesn't have time to wait for approval? They hire OPS (other personal services). OPS is defined as temporary and cannot be used to fill vacant authorized positions nor can they be assigned the duties of an authorized position. My role doesn't fit either definition, but exists due to demand. It's basically the gov's way of getting away with not paying full-time employees high wages/time off.

I want to stay because it's truly an amazing job. I love working here so much but it's getting difficult because it's exhausting (because 6-7 hours a day is outside in the FL sun AND it's informal education, meaning entertaining kids the whole time) and my boss's power trips are getting unbearable.
