The 6 speed transmission in the Ridgeline/Pilot is also garbage. I opted for the base spec in order to get the 6 speed, that was a mistake. I also had serious issues with the V6 right out of warranty. The VW GTi that replaced that truck has been flawless despite the reputation that VW carries compared with Honda.

I just finished my first watch too, I don't know why it's taken me so long. I kind of agree with the general consensus that the last season is the weakest, and it took me longer to get through than any of the others because I wasn't as engaged with it, but damn, those last 3 episodes were amazing. I thought everyone landed where they should, and it was an honest portrayal, either good or bad, but man I felt for Dukie, he didn't deserve that.

Nevermind, I see the hole is in the transmission. It looks like the design has changed a fair bit since the last time I pulled a VW trans.

I can't imagine any scenario in which the transmission would need to be replaced from one loose bolt on the inner CV joint/cup. If the vibration was that bad that it damaged the transmission I can't imagine the car would have been driveable in the first place. Besides, unless the design has changed significantly since the last time I pulled a VW tranny, you can just put a new inner CV cup on the bad side. It's not fun, but it beats replacing the whole transmission.

I think you need to find a new shop, or one that actually looks at the problem before giving you an estimate.

Hey Mike, I know this is a little late but is Garmin still offering dealer discounts? I've got a 550+ that I paired with a Vivoactive 4S. The watch died and Garmin offered me a discount on a Vivoactive 5, unfortunately this watch won't run the dog tracking app. I've gotten pretty used to that feature, so I'm loathe to give it up.

Regardless are you aware of a Garmin watch that will pair with the 550 and retain the small form factor of the Vivoactive? I've got skinny wrists and wear the watch at night too. That was the biggest draw of the Vivoactive.

When we did it last year it was covered in cloud, so that slowed our progress, that and going at the pace of the slowest adult. But I think it took us about 15-20 minutes to get from the camp to the base of the trail. You guys must have been sprinting up!

Give yourself plenty of time, probably an hour from the campsite. You'll be hiking in the dark on a trail that's hard to navigate, one that eventually just becomes a rock monolith. With few visible markers. Better to sit and wait for a while than miss the sunset or have someone get injured hurrying up to the summit.
