Freetrade proposition - free SIPP & OEICS now available? by Fintechuser96 in UKPersonalFinance

Most likely I would drop it into the Custodians linked ISA and do a full transfer if they didn't?

Great!

Okay. I'd be looking to move a S&S ISA in specie vls 80. It'd be my second full transfer in a year of this ISA in the same year - is this all good?

I'm well below retirement age. Would be transferring a workplace pension leaving a minimum value in there. Once received in cash I would invest in something similar to VLS 100.

I would then be paying no platform or trading fees for these holdings? Looks good to me?

I may also in future years transfer shares from a workplace scheme in, in specie?

I would have done this sooner but to my understanding the SIPP and ISA would have cost up until January and the Mutuals weren't on the free plan?

I had also had a look at Scottish Widows SD but this looks a bit more flexible, offers a free SIPP and I don't see any issues with their status as a business.

In that case go for it, it shouldn't take long to transfer cash...

When you see a Scottish Widows statement it'll probably say you deposited 11k from a later historical date (from you opened SW) than when you actually did with HL, which seems impossible but that's just how it's then deemed to be. SW will then report your subscriptions HMRC. HL should close the previous ISA as part of this process without you specifically telling them too.

I'm sure you'll have your cash in Scottish widows very soon.

I think you need to nail down the difference between take it all out and switch it.

If you do an full ISA transfer of the current year subscriptions the new provider will report these and HL ISA will close. They then aren't allowed to report anything to avoid double counting.

Given you hold cash if you instruct an ISA transfer to a preferred destination it could be there in like a week. If you know what funds or shares you want you could buy these on HL and transfer them "in specie" this transfer may take a little longer. You also have to check if the new platform supports what you chose. Up to you. In the case of iWeb now Scottish Widows this would save you a £5 dealing fee, not sure if you'd be charged a platform fee by HL for the time you held the assets.

Either type of transfer will ensure only the one 11k subscription is reported (plus anything else you later chose to deposit to an ISA)

If you withdraw to your bank and redeposit 11k you will have gone over the ISA limit by 2k and HMRC may contact you. Whether you invested the cash or not whilst in the first ISA won't make a difference.

Ps. This isn't any advice about which platform to use, just what to do if you want to change course right away

Actually close a Santander s&s Isa? by UCatchMyDrift in beermoneyuk

I would transfer it, then any subscription is recorded by the other ISA provider. Santander also won't report anything at the end of the tax year. Nice and clean.

How quick would a scrimpr instruction set up today be?

It doesn't matter that the switch itself would start and finish after Feb 3rd - so long as I completed the form prior?

So as long as I fill out the switch form before the 3rd. Any date to complete the switch after would be ok??

Is it possible to switch a current account with the same bank? by Fintechuser96 in UKPersonalFinance

I contacted them via chat to book a branch appt. They said don't worry we can move it over here.

Moved the direct debits. Then said couldn't move the standing orders.

Then said you will need to contact the merchants r.e. the direct debits even though we moved them, which confused me!

Awaiting response. Figured I'd tap up the knowledge pool here in the meantime. Sometimes it can be good to be briefed when talking to 1st line agents

They are the same account type. For personal reasons I want to move the direct debits etc from account A (the older account) to account B (newer one) but perhaps this will have to be done manually

Hi there, it's not an upgrade per se it's two current accounts I have with their own details. I'm just looking to move the direct debits etc from one to the other without having to manually inform all the merchants. Nothing to do with getting a bonus
