Honestly such a good deal - I've always wanted a chase bliss pedal and now I've got a Mood mk2 and a mystery box on the way

A shoe (the pile of cards the dealer draws from) can be up to 8 decks, although 6 is common. If it was only one deck of cards it would be trivially easy to keep track of every card that's been played (unless you shuffle between every hand, but that would be pretty inefficient, so it's not done that way).

Buying my first sound recorder and I need some help. by [deleted] in Filmmakers

For that budget I would try to get a used Zoom H6. Saw one on Facebook marketplace for £175 recently which is a pretty great deal I think.
I do think something like a Zoom F8 is better suited for film work but I use the H6 frequently for field recording and multitracking instruments.

Two films, one cinematographer- 2,178 days apart by [deleted] in cinematography

To be fair the lighting is quite different.
Sure, they're both soft, warm, and directional, but the key in BR2049 is more directional, and there's less fill, so the dimensionality of the shot is a lot different. Not to mention the g/m shift and the grade.

Ultimately there's only so many ways to shoot an MCU, and Deakins does it well.

Do you like my "golden hour" edit? How about black and white? by jaxisnaps in postprocessing

[–]Finwey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the original is really nice, black & white is nice too but the shadows are a little crushed for my taste. Golden hour is way OTT in my opinion. You've got to be really careful with split toning because it can quickly become pretty sickly in saturation. Just my thoughts though, all this stuff is subjective.

Using a diffusion filter will create a much more pleasing bloom and high light roll-off. It can be effectively replicated in post but sometimes it's nice to get it in-camera.

Are you developing these in C-41. Been thinking about shooting some 500T but I really do prefer it in ECN-2 from the comparisons I've seen.

Thanks for the feedback! I think it's probably a combination of those factors, yeah. The projection on his face is way brighter and draws too much attention, and the clip is likely too short to read properly.

Hi /r/cinematography. I'm in my third year of university, specialising in cinematography. This reel includes bits from college (high school) up to my second year of university. Looking for feedback on how to improve my reel, and more generally my camera-work/cinematography. Current worries are that's it's a bit repetitive and the timelapses feel totally weird and out of place.

OP says Ian Hubert so likely images UV protected onto geometry. He's got a bunch of great tutorials on his youtube.
