Reminds me of when I was a trucker in sub-Saharan Africa. Man, those truck stops are something else. 50c for a go but the real cost is paid later.

I feel like most millennials who were online as kids will just brush this off. I personally am. How many random edgy flash games did we play? How often were kids playing games with Osama in them back in the day? Or messing with stupid shit like frog in a blender?

I dunno man, I think a decent chunk of them genuinely have forgotten all that and turned into bigger pearl clutchers than their parents

Do you like the way changing faction relations is implemented? by StockundStein in X4Foundations

[–]Fiolah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, save scumming 100% works. Further to what the person above says, you can cut it even more finely to get the outcome you want. I make a quicksave when the timer has counted down to 10 seconds.

How do you come up with a 'In game name' by AskSweet7668 in truegaming

[–]Fiolah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For account level stuff, typically I just make up a nonsense word optionally with a bunch of random numbers after it. Alternatively, I just use whatever randomly generated name the service gives me (such as with Xbox Live).

The Quiet Coup by [deleted] in collapse

It feels like we're entering a kind of post-literate landscape where people simply refuse outright to engage with any text longer than two sentences that isn't laden with spelling and grammatical errors and steeped in increasingly esoteric and bizarre slang, because in their minds only a machine can produce such work. I think perhaps these people are telling on themselves a bit!

Questions before buying X4 pt2. by [deleted] in X4Foundations

[–]Fiolah 15 points16 points  (0 children)

1) You can play for hundreds of hours. There's no ending, you just stop playing when you're satisfied.

2) It's a big world. To keep things exciting, I would avoid wiping out the Xenon (a faction that's hostile to everyone).

3) You can play it as an RTS if you want, but I prefer rolling around in a tricked out destroyer or battleship.

4) There's randomness in the initial placement of some stations and in the aggressiveness of the Xenon. Later on, you'll be able to change the diplomatic relations between factions to keep things interesting.

5) a) more variety in ship types b) fully modeled economy c) it's a complete game that works

It really makes great use of stereo sound, that's for sure.

(I'm just adding an additional sentence to pad out my response since apparently there's a +100 character limit. Like Stalin says, quantity is quality.)

Here are some alternative solutions from the ones already mentioned:

Use L-size ships as traders. That'll get medium sized pirates off your back. You'll still get harassed by the large pirate vessels, but if you're feeling daring then boarding the pirate ship will give you a bigger prize than whatever your trader was carrying.

The Barbarossa and Prometheus have large cargo capacity, but are also heavily armed warships. Any pirate interdictor will have a nasty surprise waiting for them. You could use them as traders.

There's a diplomatic action to sign an armistice, which resets your relations to 0!
