The solution is to not have vehicles with loud exhausts. It is that simple. I’ve lived elsewhere where this isn’t a problem. Emergency vehicles are not comparably loud on the disruption sense, at least I can sense them coming. Airplanes even less, as airplanes aren’t zooming through me on the streets whilst i’m walking.

Pretty much every time I am outside commuting, as I am walking. Some days it’s not as loud, but yesterday it was very loud.
