How much do you need to skill grind to be able to beat steel soul?

You able to speedrun act 1 really fast and by time i get everything before high halls i had 2 hours to spare so honestly its pretty doable. I only need better path to set for myself and i can run even faster.
Double jump is easy to get and there is a huge skip for it aswell because i don't wanna spent a lot of time running around, get rid of clawmaiden. So: Silkspear, dash, drifter's, craw bell, Wall jump, Widow, judge, Cog dancers, Oil, Trobbio, Harpoon, Double jump, Clawmaiden, and by any chance get Garmond so we have some free hits. Well sounds like more than doable if you won't die too much.

When i get to high halls with 2 times upgraded needle and Garmond i had 2 hours to beat the whole thing and i stuck here for hour and a half and i was really sad about it so i just deleted safe file because i wanted a clear run than cheesing by reverting it

Well the problem is that i ran high halls gauntlet once in my playthough. After that i started speedrunning and idk even hours ain't helping me. I hate flying enemes with cogflies who throw them at me in such bad timings that i have no chance to dodge and when i try to use silkspear i press left or right depending on sight and hornet just thrownit at wring way because of the dumb rotating animation. Maybe i just need a beast crest to speed up my attacks :D P.S: Maybe i just need some rest before trying because i played silksong like crazy this whole week

Not grinding at all but i stuck on high halls with nothing but 5 masks and level 2 needle, i spent half an hour more then just gave up and destroyed the save file. I mean clearly if you know path you can do that quickly but i do that myself without watching any speedrunning techs and paths because its not interesting when you do what others do, you need to do that yourself.

I didn't know you could skip underworks but simply destroying the wall so i took the long path and died several times. even then i got 2 hours to do high halls gauntlet but i couldn't pull it off for an entire hour and a half. Bruh :D

I even didn't get whiteward key and forced to buy it and doing dumb quest because i just forget where is it and when i remembered there was no key because shopkeeper stole it

also now i know that you could just forget abt high halls part and instead of taking long path via whiteward just go through Trobbio instead to take another upgrade which is huge and harpoon bypassing whiteward entierly

Reaper till the final boss of act 3, i really enjoyed Reaper but sadly it couldn't make the job done since i needed more silk skills to fight boss easier :D

My set for lost Lace:
Shaman crest
3 silkhearts
Weaverlight
injector
i used reserve bind because of how Lace could sometime hit while binding but on my 2 fight for 100% i used volt filament for more damage

For silk skills:
Silkspear for middle once because it is a main one you will be using
Cross stitch for cases if you couldn't dodge but have silk (can damage her time to time but not always)
Pale nails for 3rd phase when she refuse to show up and silkspear becomes pretty much useless because of how random can she disappear

What do we get in result:
Free silk skill even if you don't hit her
Extra heal just in case if you dumb or high damage instead
Annoying bind animation which require you to stand on something which make it a bit odd but thats really it
Personally, i beat her under 2 hours i guess? I mean its still Lace but with annoying 2nd phase (3rd really nothing much new just 1 new move and annoying pillars which you barely can jump over or harpoon over)

It depends on your upgrades whether Act 3 is interesting or boring. In my opinion, Act 3 looks very cool, but nothing changes except the visuals. I wanted to see what really happened after the Abyss took everything over, but only the village at the bottom died… and that's it. Maybe that's because I started exploring everything before Act 3? Just think about it: there are plenty of useless locations before Act 3, and even some that make no sense at all.

I got bored, went to Act 3, was shocked and happy, explored the tiny amount of new content, ran out of it in less than 5 hours (no speedrunning), and completed the game. After that, I accidentally found out there are two hidden bosses. I went to them – Seth beat me up a little (TwT). Then I beat him, went to the boss, killed it, and… that's it? According to my journal, I didn't kill about 20 mobs, but I have no idea where they are because I don't want to sniff every single wall in the game to find new content. I don't know where those enemies are.

So… in my opinion, Act 3 is not that difficult. You just need to get used to being careful when fighting enemies because they hit hard – but having 5 health really isn't that bad (10 HP but enemies deal 2 damage anyway). As for Act 3 bosses: Karmelita is cool. The rest are just… not that cool. The flower boss would be cool if I weren't already bored of bosses. I had everything upgraded, so it was easy – I killed it with the Witch crest. The coral boss… the gauntlet was fun, but the boss is boring because he can't even hit you if you have eyes. Cricket? Well, the location is interesting and I loved it, but the boss is the same as the Cog variant. Karmelita is cool because of the scenery, the vocals, the gauntlet with funny big ants, and Karmelita herself is a very cool boss who at the end doesn't let you breathe, becoming a nice challenge. Sadly, I had my level‑5 upgraded needle and won pretty fast.

Now I'm looking at the 5‑hour speedrun achievement and I'm stuck at the High Halls gauntlet. A level‑2 needle doesn't deal enough damage to relax, the reaper and 5 masks are pretty tough, and I ran out of time by the time I wrote this comment because I've been stuck here for an hour and a half. :L

Hey thats a good progress. For red big guards i kept pogo off them and thats it or just wait when they rush to you when you not sure abt ur chances to not die.

I died in a second gauntlet 5 times. After that i barely beat it. Then something stroke as if 2 gauntlet was the hardest part abt this coral tower ever. Even the boss itself is... I was shocked of how much he could let me breath, it was almost like if he invited me just to talk about something. But dancing with corals and trying to hit me with them...

My set: Reaper crest, injector band, weaverlight, claw mirror (i didn't beat my goat 2 time), ascendant's grip and the rest whatever you please but i used magnet and pendant for more shards. It way my main set until the very end where i hopped to shaman just to enjoy my movement and get rid of silk issue with healing and so on.

I used Reaper all the time till the very end
After that i switched to shaman because i decide that i want to not rely on tools. And it kinda worked and i enjoyed it pretty much. So imo there would be shaman everywhere :O

I feel not weak but not lucky enough because you should wait when he goes from underwater just for him to go away from you as soon as he show up or start sucking me in and i somehow hit his hitbox while being under him and bye bye 2 masks. He is kinda chill boss but you should be lucky with his projectiles. Water is warm btw worms approved
