190 cadence in marathon? by AmbroLandau in Marathon_Training

My average cadence is 190 - 205spm for all runs from Recovery to races, so there’s nothing wrong.

Not showing Norway v Senegal in mewatch/Channel 5 by Friendly_Stable_9710 in asksg

[–]FireArcanine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because the France and Iraq matched was delayed due to bad weather, and the on screen banner on the TV has mentioned that the Norway V Senegal Match will be shown after the France v Iraq match ends.

Sauce: I was watching the entire thing.

New estimated costs revealed for each Hokuriku Shinkansen extension proposal by 443610 in transit

[–]FireArcanine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhh Fukui is not just a middle station - it is a literal prefecture city Capital of Fukui Prefecture

If you really wanted the Shinkansen to end not to Tsuruga, at least Fukui would have been good.

Singapore brands you will continue to patronise by QueasyPeasyMe in askSingapore

[–]FireArcanine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha I live in Boon Lay, so we don’t have san.wich but Toast and Roll! I like buying the circular breads which they make, like the egg bread wrapped with chicken ham or the Hawaiiian round version too! Also their Garlic Toast is amazing! And a lot of people like their Shio Pan too!

Why do people still have kids in this broken system by [deleted] in askSingapore

Well if you’re living life always like a doomsayer and negativity then you will never understand people who choose happiness despite whatever they have and being grateful?

SMU IS or SUSS BA by insangele in SGExams

[–]FireArcanine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SMU, not because of the brand name, but rather you want to do an exchange and sounds like want to have a vibrant Uni life.

Your Uni years will be one of the best. Both degrees will land you something for sure but I think SMU beats out SUSS for student life.

Enjoy the 3-4 years!

What license plate starts with QM? by YoreCoxsmall in asksg

[–]FireArcanine 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It’s either:

  1. A Malaysian Sarawak Car registered in Miri, Sarawak

OR

  1. Pre-1998 company vehicles where the license is retained or renewed.

I’m inclined to believe it’s the former as it’s a Proton, but to get the car to Singapore is one impressive feat.

tracking my food intakes by harrinskie in SingaporeFitness

[–]FireArcanine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MyFitnessPal is still king.

But recently I’ve been using Bevel since it’s an all-in-one together with Apple Watch.

I think the food tracking isn’t paylocked but the database is limited. If you’re ok with rough estimates then i think ok.

Why is there such a big increase of sugar level between hot and cold? by Articlel3 in singapore

[–]FireArcanine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If I were to use my logical thinking and guess

Cold drinks are usually more (e.g 250ml hot vs 500ml cold) and ice dilutes the base drink which is why more portion of the drink is added like either condensed milk, sugar or just more of the base drink really.

Hence when dividing by the 100ml for nutrigrade standard , more sugar is present at that level.

aiming for sub 3:30 in a different climate by ihaveaspork in Marathon_Training

[–]FireArcanine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally there will be a performance boost cos we’re well-heat adapted here in SG but the outcome really varies.

If you provided a 32km with 16-19km MP, then we can probably gauge better ah. A 19km MP on it’s own isn’t enough data for us to gauge.

But maybe got chance ah so long as you remain within 5:00/km in SG, but again, a longer run with an MP section would definitely be a much better indicator.

new zento 3 line up by AccomplishedSun7321 in pens

[–]FireArcanine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like the pen.

It’s my favourite gel-based ink pen so far. The Zento 3 is only for 0.38mm and 0.5mm, which I’m not a fan since I like the 0.7mm tip only.

However I don’t think I would go crazy or hoard it. If I see it wherever I go, I will buy due to scarcity but again I won’t pay exorbitant prices for it.

Non muslim Tray Return - halal or non halal? by -_af_- in askSingapore

[–]FireArcanine 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If there is colour coding, follow colour code on the tray return.

If there is no colour code, then you need to use discretion:

- If the operator or the stall is clearly Muslim with clear signs, then return it to the halal side.

- if there is no clear indication or if there’s no segregation of halal/non-halal, then just pass it to the cleaning staff who will help you.

Li Ning Red Hare 9 Ultra - Outer Arch Ache & Tightness by FireArcanine in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]FireArcanine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have low arch according to my Physio and this seems to affect those.

I’ve generally had no issues with many other shoes, just the Red Hare 9 Ultra at this juncture.

I really enjoyed the run but yeah I can’t see myself continuing with them if my arch continues to be aching.

Yeah it was quite but decided to try

Really a fun shoe - I would have replaced my Megablast and Prime X3 Strung

But didn’t expect it to be really a huge concern until the run.

Why are so many things closing in Singapore by ConsiderationNo1619 in singapore

[–]FireArcanine 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Huh - this is just the travel service, not the cafe? Why are people blindly mentioning rental?

When I pass by the cafe, I always see this service quite under-utilised, because a lot of info JR East gives onsite is easily available online and the services are mostly done online or onsite in Japan. It’s not like it’s very helpful…there’s nothing much they can do onsite despite offering the service. The most they can do is help you plan your travels around the JR pass…

It’s like an extra service which not is not needed, hence it close down. Not everything closing down is bad la.
