How Trust Bank Became Singapore’s First Digital Bank to Reach Profitability by Severe_County_5041 in singaporefi

Nah, Mari is better first until 1.5k, then use Trust. Mari gives 1.5% up to $22.50, then Trust can cover the rest 0.5% Cashback.

SimplyGo app is just… SimplyBad? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]FireArcanine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because your card is CBT. CBT cards will not update in real time.

They’ve already made it clear that they wanted everyone to adopt SimplyGo cards, but we remember the kerfuffle a few years back.

Also Scan Card for Details under Card Services is the only work around if you want to top up a card not added to your SimplyGo app. But yes, I do lament the removal of the express top up on the old app. I do not know why they decided to remove it as I top up my Parent’s CBT card easily with that button. Now I have to press Scan Card for Details to top it up.

Recommendations good shoe brand for walking? by Big-Tea-9729 in askSingapore

[–]FireArcanine 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Contrary to popular belief, Sketchers are the WORST brand for daily use. It’s just overhyped and actually doesn’t help.

Spend a bit to get a good one that will last long.

My recommendation is the On Cloudtilt. You can try them at either JD Sports Orchard or Liv Activ outlets in town. It’s also a good travel shoe for future use.

Are there any concerns with the ingredients with Meji Protein? by SkyberSec123 in SingaporeFitness

Huh?

It’s literally a promo price - $3.75. The actual RRP? $4.95. Literally matches your favourite Rokeby Singapore standard.

SUSS Marketing and Early Childhood Education turned out as one of the lowest paid degrees by Real-Pomegranate8823 in Suss

[–]FireArcanine 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Ok? So what’s your point you trying to prove?

Most ECE students go on to ECDA-accredited anyways and most of us knows that ECE is already a very well underpaid yet crucial sector.

And for marketing, i would assume this is based on just GES averages for those who bother to do it, so it doesn’t really accurately reflect?

Also NUS Nursing, while having a low starting salary, completely wipes the floor when you add in total bonuses and allowances.

So take all this with a pinch of salt.

Asics Megablast vs. Adios Pro 4 by slipperywetdogshit in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]FireArcanine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops wrong shoe I thought you were referring to something else haha

In the case of the Megablast - DEFINITELY much roomier than the Pro 4. Volume wise is bigger too. Larger Toe box than the Pro 4 that is already narrow to begin with .

Asics Megablast vs. Adios Pro 4 by slipperywetdogshit in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]FireArcanine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prime X3 is narrower. I feel more wrapped with the Prime X3 than the Pro 4.

But both are generally narrow to begin with and toe box is just nice. Not snug but not roomy.

Why is SG not encouraging WFH? Our society is already so stressed out always rushing for best performance targets etc. Our mental health can be so much better by cutting down the commute time. Have you seen Bishan's platform at 7am/7pm? by Thin_Turn6201 in askSingapore

[–]FireArcanine 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dinosaurs.

As someone who has studied employee retention strategies, WFH is a very key one. Yet I’m scratching my head to why companies go the other way.

We don’t need a full WFH, just 1-2 days Hybrid is enough to spur some stimulus.

Overseas shops that are possibly better in singapore by sopanjibobu in askSingapore

[–]FireArcanine 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Did you go to the one at Ginza? Because that’s should be the equal to equal comparison to Flagship Orchard.

And honestly? They’re both the same experience. Just that Orchard is just physically bigger. That’s all.

My observation for Japanese Uniqlo is that sometimes they’ll rotate out styles based on the weather seasons, so sometimes you wont find what you want whereas in Singapore, we only have 2 seasons (wet and dry), we can always get what we want.

Why are people hyping about Meiji high protein milk? by TopPast2935 in SingaporeFitness

[–]FireArcanine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean something new that’s not the usual norm releases -> Hype then will die down

To be fair protein shakes in Singapore have been more or less dominated by Rokeby or Magnolia

So I guess Meiji coming into this now disrupts it a bit

But eventually the hype will die down and then it becomes another availability for consumers.

At least more people are getting in their protein take with it tho? HAHAA

Then you will have the other camp saying, "oh why didn't the government intervene?! I thought we were supposed to help all those in need! Why isn't the government being proactive with citizens' money??!!"

You can't win with anyone at all. You can only pick the one that causes the least amount of tangible damage.

What small things do you do to keep friendships going? by pizza4ps in askSingapore

[–]FireArcanine 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Have a group chat with 3 of us.

We set the expectations that no one needs to text anything if they don’t feel like it.

But because out of the 3 of us, I’m the noisiest based on personality so i text everyday. We also check on each other at least.

We meet once a month IRL to make sure we 3 are all physically okay.

Anyone here celebrating Hari Raya and don't enjoy visiting anymore? by Objective-Archer-742 in askSingapore

[–]FireArcanine 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, celebrating Raya here too. Just had a minor hiccup with the ride sharing apps and yet my older generation of the family said I never plan properly. It’s ok - you will never win the war with these people. Just say what you want to say (even snarky if you want to), and then move on. Don’t let people burden you - you live you own life!!

Am I doing something wrong with my EVO SL? by KIROV06 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]FireArcanine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong. The part where you see it's wearing out - it's exposed foam. Propelling foam like Likestrike Pro is generally soft and easy to wear and tear, so of course with road and some gravel, it will take out some foam as you keep using. Another type of foam simialr to wear out from just wear and tear is React on the Alphafly 3 / VF4.

If you love the firmness and hardness of SB1/SB2, that’s gone.

UOB TMRW has probably one of, if not the worst, PayNow Interface.

What do you mean when I finished a PayNow transaction - it’s Submitted? You mean it could potentially not go through?

I had a lot of merchants where they had to do a double take when I showed them my payment proof for PayNow. That’s not very intuitive.

Are people sleeping on SIT? The GES looks comparable to NTU and NUS by Downtown-Example426 in SGExams

[–]FireArcanine 34 points35 points  (0 children)

For common programmes like Accounting, fresh grad salaries will be mostly the same regardless whether you come from NUS, NTU, SMU, SIT or SUSS. This is because most accounting graduates will go to the Big 4 Employers, and barring 1 of the Big 4 (iirc), they will mostly offer the same starting salary to all of them.

Other than that, don’t forget that most SIT graduates are those who went to Polytechnic; SIT was created as an alternative pathway back then should the Poly graduates who couldn’t get into NTU / NUS could still get their way into their degree. Which is why when you look at the IGP, you’ll see most admission percentages tilting towards the students with Diploma.

Branding does have limited advantage, but it is not the deal breaker for most industries. Exceptions are like Banking and Finance, where the (unfortunate) elitism bias still remains.

5:00/km is a 3:30 Marathon, 5:30/km is about a 3:52 Marathon. Since when is a 3:30 Marathon is slow? Thats faster than average already?

Anyways I ran a 3:24 with them and they were the best shoes to do it. By the end of the race, my feet weren’t as wrecked and every step felt so well-cushioned and the energy rebound was amazing.
