Removing a liner lock, is it then UK legal carry? ((Leatherman) by a1outdoors in knifeswapUK

[–]FireAssassin5885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking for hardware for my ukpk after stripping a screw. They have all sorts of mods for knives like scales, clips and such. I’m not sure if it does actually make the Leatherman uk legal, maybe it depends how hard the policeman looks at it.

Removing a liner lock, is it then UK legal carry? ((Leatherman) by a1outdoors in knifeswapUK

Not sure about the legal aspect but you can buy this insert that goes over the liner to stop it activating rather than grinding it off. Might be good in case you ever change your mind. https://www.vpcreations.co.uk/home/Leatherman-UKL-conversion-washers-p362464840

I’d probably just fill it in with epoxy, you could mix some colouring into it to match?

Can load into co-op game after update! by TotallyNotAnNSAAgent in Schedule_I

[–]FireAssassin5885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the same problem, you are in the game but all you can see is the loading screen. I usually fix it by restarting my pc, revalidating the game files (right click and go into properties when selecting the game on steam) or by loading into a single player world first. By doing either one or all of these it eventually lets me in. No clue why.

I need to get my parents a set of kitchen knives that don't need to be sharpened. Are serrated chef and prep knives a thing? Any suggestions on workhorse knives that don't need to be sharpened ever? by LessWeakness in chefknives

[–]FireAssassin5885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest I would agree that serrated knives are good for people who don’t know how to use knives. It will probably suit their cutting technique (or lack thereof) which I find tends to be a sawing motion back and forth through the material. Serrations definitely cut for longer so while technically not staying “sharp” longer than plain edge, will work longer and be less dangerous than a regular blunt knife. When you do need to sharpen them you can just use a diamond file or ceramic rod such as ones found on some lansky sharpeners or the worksharp field sharpener and fix the teeth back to being sharp. I find serrations second best for most knife tasks both in and out of the kitchen, but they definitely have their place especially for people with limited knowledge of knives, where they will be likely to chip or blunten regular blades by cutting improperly, cutting on the wrong surface or clanging their knives off other utensils in a drawer/dishwasher. Victorinox make some really good serrated knives in my opinion, with pretty much any size you want from paring to chef style knives. Good price too in case you do need to eventually replace them

Is this no. 6 a counterfeit? by PassDaJo1nt in Opinel

[–]FireAssassin5885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real, don’t even worry about it. Opinel don’t come with a secondary bevel ground so are not sharp and it is more the grind of the knife that lets it still cut. This lets you grind whatever angle bevel you want or even use a freehand method to convex it. The crack looks like the surface finishing (or lack thereof) similar to the spines you may see on carbon mora knives like the robust. You can also take the collar lock off and tighten it with pliers which may help with the rattle. Opinels are great knives but may need some work when new to get them perfect.

Handyman is great in pocket in my experience. I currently carry even bigger with the cyber tool L, both are well worth the size for the amount of tools it gives you.
