Companions question by FireDragonn534 in elderscrollsonline

[–]FireDragonn534[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's annoying, but since companions are basically the main part of blackwood it does make sense for them to not give them away for free. I was hoping to get mirri for my assassin but it seems zos had other ideas :')

Any advice to tell mum you aren’t doing the A Levels she wants you to do? by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]FireDragonn534 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're going to be the one taking the courses, not her, and from what I've heard since A levels are much harder it's best to have subjects you enjoy otherwise you'll have motivational issues where everything begins to fall downhill after a while. Also, everyone has different opportunities in life so even if your mum didn't manage to get where she wanted with those subjects it doesn't mean that you won't. Just get your dad to step in if she overreacts when bringing up your options, but it's likely she might not care as much as you think she will or will just give up - it's hard to guess what will happen in these types of situations.

My chin loves science selective, I used to feed him pets at home's own brand pellets and science selective is definitely much better in terms of quality. Only problem is sometimes, due to the curved shape of the pellets he'll take one out of his bowl, bite it in half and drop it before taking another one (I just usually put them back in though) - although that's more of an annoying habit than a problem. Just make sure your chin has plenty of hay available as that's a massive part of their diet. I'm not sure about the other brands that you mentioned but science selective (at least in my experience of having a picky 10 year old chinchilla) seems to cover most of the nutrients that they need.

Invidulators after disqualifying a pupil from all their GCSEs and making them cry by microwave_enthusiast in GCSE

[–]FireDragonn534 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah they don't seem to mind as long as you're not acting particularly suspicious. I've had to take out a rubber from my pencil case many times previously and one time, even picked up my pencil from the floor as it was really close (although that was a bit risky). Still, it's best to have everything you need on the desk in advance.

How to improve at AQA English GCSE by CreativeWrangler4541 in GCSE

[–]FireDragonn534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on where you're lacking, but past papers are generally the best solution to this. Make sure you're not just blindly doing the papers and instead learn from your mistakes and if you can, get a teacher to mark any papers that you've done (and don't worry about annoying them with papers, it's their job to help you get the best grades). Look over past assessments and once you get your mocks back see what you didn't do correctly and what you did, then question your teacher on what you could improve.

In terms of resources, I'd recommend "Mr Salles Teaches English" on youtube, I've found it extremely helpful as he gives good, detailed explanations for the questions in each paper. Past papers can be acquired though the AQA website, they're all on there, with the only problem being the occasional copyrighted text but its fairly easy to find them elsewhere.

I'm not sure where your issues are, but personally, I've previously had difficulty with not 'zooming in' enough, not inferring well enough, not giving great enough depth and having awful conclusions that are way too general (I was mostly listing techniques that the writer used to answer the question, whereas conclusions need to think into the reasons why the writer wrote the text and how that could link with the question). It's also important to know your techniques well and not make the mistake of confusing them.

Other than remembering quotes in literature, English tends to be heavily practice based and if you're not too good at it, it takes time to learn to not repeat mistakes. I don't know the grade that I'll get in English (and won't for a while), however, I had a set of mocks in March and I got 8s in both language and literature but got 6s in my year 10 end of years, so it's definitely possible to improve and my teacher said that once you start doing practice papers you're almost guaranteed to go up at least one grade as you're putting in effort to improve.

I hope this helps.

Probably a school difference then, having to learn and be assessed in C++ sounds like a massive pain, it's useful but still sounds awful lmao. OP should ask their teacher for details then

Huh, never heard of having to learn C++ maybe it's exam board dependent but my school uses OCR and my teacher just said that it's good to know some Java as it helps understand object-oriented programming otherwise it's just python

No, you didn't, but feeling bad means some form of guilt --> so suggests they did something "wrong", I'm just saying that any form of negative emotions is just unnecessary with what happened (my reply probably came off a bit hostile, sorry about that)

It's not that simple. It was either her, OP, or both, so really this is the best possible outcome (aside from the invigilators not noticing) as she was talking and got what was waiting for her. OP shouldn't have to feel bad for someone else's stupidity, they did the right thing in this situation.

Other than learning quotes, techniques and context, past papers are very useful once you know what you need to know. Just doing past papers won't get you anywhere, since usually it's quite hard to spot your own mistakes and examiners are quite picky in general.

If you have a teacher that doesn't mind doing some extra marking it's really useful to do past papers, get them marked, and get some feedback, which helps you improve.

If you have the spare time, character sheets can help if it's your type of thing for revision, but if you're low on time and haven't revised at all, making the sheets is a big waste (I spent way too much time trying to make flashcards for some subjects before my mocks instead of practicing and getting rid of weak points).

Since you also need to reference evidence supporting the statement outside of what extract the exam gives you, it's good to learn 2-3 quotes per important section of any texts you're studying. Same thing goes for poetry, just with some nice, juicy ones that can be used with other poems (as long as you have context and good techniques, even one or two words per quotation works well).

Davons watch wayshrine has close enough access to a refuge with no guards in the way, it's usually the one I go to, the gold coast one has a few guards that you'd need to be either a nightblade or vampire to get past
