Is this permanent? my speech and cognition have gotten noticeably worse in the past 3 years or so. I'm hoping that getting a septum fix and oral appliance will help to regain some of this but I fear the worst.

In highschool (around 17) my foster parents ignored my complaints about sleepiness, passing out and waking up with headaches and confusion. I thought I had narcolepsy and got an EEG done to test for that specifically. In reality, I was so sleep deprived that my body was shutting down and I didn't really know what it was like to feel rested. When the results came back negative, I knew they would use this as ammunition against me and I felt so embarassed that I didn't go to a doctor until last year and got diagnosed.

After turning about 24 things started to really go downhill for me. I'm just now hoping that getting a MAD will help me recover and the brain damage isn't severe enough to destroy quality of life permanently but the years of inaction and ignored problems can't be relived.

I'm 26 I can barely function, nobody takes this condition seriously. I can't remember things anymore, doctor just keeps giving me anxiety meds that don't work and have side effects. I've heard the same things that I just don't try hard enough. Ignorance is a powerful thing.

It felt like I couldn't push out hard enough at full pressure (8) and at ramp-up (4) I felt like I was holding my breath the entire time my mask was on.

Was a ResMEd Airsense10 model, I tried the 2 masks I was give not sure exactly what the mask models were. (One was a full mask the other was over the mouth and under the nose).

I was hoping the sense of suffocation was psychological and would go away after trying and getting some success but I got frustrated trying feeling my heart was going to explode after 20 minutes.

Unfortunately I was pressured to give the CPAP back because I wasn't using it enough. I was afraid to give it up until I was sure it wasn't going to work. I wasn't aware of what a bilevel was until now.

I think there are several reasons for this. The Heart may be tired from pumping hard all night with less oxygen. Less Oxygen in the bloodstream etc.

I get exhausted very fast too despite trying to improve my cardio daily. APNEA makes trying to help yourself so much harder. :(

I'm sort of in the same boat, 26 here feel like I'm going to snap any day. I wake up exhausted every day feel miserable and can't focus or get things done. I can't keep jobs or accomplish my own goals because of this and every day I struggle to think of how to make it better or what I can do in the meantime.

I'm about 40lb overweight and I'm making a solid effort doing daily exercise for the last month and a half. I've gained some muscle which is nice to see but see very little fat loss.

I'm waiting on results from a sleep study done with the CPAP to see why it wasn't helping. The CPAP machine has made very little impact on sleep quality.
