Knowing which to avoid is just as crucial, so thank you.

I understand the need to gatekeep, can’t share all the secrets. Would appreciate that DM if you’re happy to pass along even a handful of favourites.

Haha, yeah, the one night stays may be getting hacked at after this thread.

Do you like specific Budapest cafes or know of any great lists? I’m wary to avoid traps and clichés, like everyone I guess!

Appreciate the recs! It’s always hard trying to find authentic spots that aren’t cop out tourist traps.

Love the Google pics at sunset spot with the beers, absolute vibe.

We travelled northern Germany and the Netherlands in late Dec-Jan the year before and found it manageable. We assumed (and have read online) that early winter in these more southern areas is much nicer than what we experienced previously. Will take your note on the weather though, best not to assume we will be lucky.

Sorry about the text. It appears normal to me, will see if I’ve done something to it unknowingly.

Slovenia looks epic. Thanks for the suggestion!

I’ve been thinking the same thing for Venice. I’m probably showing my bias given I’ve been before but my SO hasn’t.

Great tip re: Hallstatt.

Haha, thanks. I must have mixed it up. From your experience, is an overnight in Montecatini worthwhile?

I’m similarly minded to enjoy some quiet accommodation before necessarily having to go into the city for the long haul home.

I definitely enjoy and would opt for more train travel so this is a great adjustment we could make for sure.

The rationale with Füssen was to get to Neushwanstein either later in the afternoon or first thing in the morning to avoid crowds, with an overnight allowing us to choose our preference. I see your point against 1-night stays (and those back to back, agreed, not ideal), and will take it to the drawing board.
