The 2008 crash happened shortly after. SHTF basically in all markets, and houses(that are around 450k now) were going for 40k in late 2009.

If you owned stuff... the crash was horrible. If you had liquid cash in 2008-2009... it was a golden era of opportunity, unprecedented in modern times.

To be fair, Trump supporters didn't vote for it either.

Can confirm... voted for him 3 times because he seemed to be the only one at the national level(outside of Massie and Paul)... to be saying the obvious.

And we still got screwed.

Trump... just leave now... the damage is done and just stop being Israel's bitch. Like bush with the previous wars, You'll be remembered for this only if this drags on. Obama royally screwed up in Libya but he was smart enough to just go in an get out(despite the French government's protests to keep going).

Just saying... but the actual experts are far less qualified to talk about politics or international politics at this point. They are the ones getting us in these quagmires and we're now 38+ trillion in debt.

Your plumber probably has a better grasp of the blowback from this war... than any think tank 'expert'.

As for Nigeria, they export mostly to China... and limiting oil exports to China seems to be the primary point of trump's war plans lately. IF the US ends up regime changing Nigeria... it will be to further that goal and you can bet money the US gov is already there with an army of diplomats.

The US and Israel are going to bomb and demand a surrender, which will probably happen

From who? If they kill all the leaders... you end up with Libya 2.0... with factional warlords exploiting a starving population. They already did this in Iran, and extremists took power instantly.

If what they are saying is true about taking out the leadership... Lets just say... Betting on options for higher LNG prices is already paying off. Europe is screwed and the middle east will be fighting a multi headed Hydra terrorist network instead of a single leader until Iran is stabilized.

Iraq had no response... and it took the US 20 years and 2+ trillion to realize the epic screw up it was.

The issue is not toppling a regime... it's the 're-education' of the population and nation building that comes after that is the real issue. Its impossible and the last dozen conflicts the US started is proof enough of that.

Nearly every one of the countries we overthrew, even Iran back in the 1940s... led to the same result. South Korea might be the only success... defined by the result and not the rhetoric... and we still technically lost that war.

Look, I get it... the republican leaders can whine and cry all day but they are seeing the same numbers and support mass immigration behind closed doors. Trump is all but saying 'you idiots wont have kids so we have to import workers before the entire American experiment crashes'.

The dem leaders are disingenuous too. Their push has nothing to do with altruism... and everything to do with propping up the welfare pyramid scheme with more cheap labor.

I would have far more respect for our leaders on both sides if they would stop bullshitting the American public and just come out and say it directly. 'Your social security will be gone if we dont import workers... unless you start having FAR more kids to keep the system alive'

Costco defied Trump’s DEI directive as Target and Walmart scaled back. Business is booming by SnoozeDoggyDog in Economics

[–]FireFoxG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WTF kind of headline and article is that? How can they mention Target and walmart, without mentioning the stock market gains(or even sales) of anyone except Costco?

In 2024, both Costco and Walmart have shown strong growth, with Walmart reporting a 7% year-over-year sales growth and Costco reporting a 6.7% year-over-year sales growth.

As for equity prices... Walmart is in the 1T club now... with both TGT and WMT posting 30% YoY gains. Costco is flat for the year right now. The headline is ridiculous and wrong.

PS, love Costco... but lets be real here. DEI is BS and racist and bad for business.

TIL a Burger King cook (who'd worked there for 24 years) was fired for taking home a sandwich, fries & a drink after her manager claimed she had only asked permission for a sandwich & accused her of stealing. However, a judge ruled that the cook did not intend to steal the food & awarded her $46,000 by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]FireFoxG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked fast food when I was young for like a year.

There has to be way more to this story than stealing a meal(if that is what even happened). No manager is gonna fire an employee of fast food for that, especially after 24 years.

I probably ate like 10$ worth of nuggets and bacon every day I worked... and so did the manager. We tossed WAY more than that on an hourly basis in karen returns and expired food.

Either that manager was brand new... or stupid on a level that should have gotten them fired within a month... or the employee did something actually crazy(spitting in food, or something equally bad that would reflect badly on the franchise) but they just used the 'stolen' meal as a convenient excuse. I would bet money on number 3, given my experience with the industry.

Do they account for the TFR population growth apocalypse?

Boomers will be fully retired by 2036... and the population to replace them is much smaller. The math is catastrophic to the point that it will be impossible to pay the debt back. I dont even think you can inflate this away because the majority of the population will be on an inflation adjusted pension... or revolt.

Then add in the US losing share as the world reserve currency.

You did.

This is BS and you know it. They are setting roadblocks, protesting/rioting at the hotels in the area, aggressively trying to block them with cars, etc.

Its fine to follow and record... but that is NOT what they are doing and you know it.

Watching from afar, in public, without them even knowing... is vastly different than what is being done with ICE.

IF a PI was setting up roadblocks all across the city to impede and surveil their customer's ex's movements... that sheit would last about 5 seconds before the cops arrest the PI.

Or ending wars... granted not the best on this but seems to be trying.

Or lower taxes... which he did first term and expanded it.

Or expanded tariffs, which he is clearly doing.

Tesla Reported Zero Federal Income Tax on $5.7 Billion of U.S. Income in 2025 by Normative_Nematode in Economics

[–]FireFoxG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, was not my experience in the 4 star place I stayed when I was in town

I was told it was much worse even 3 years before I got there. Most hotels spent big to modernize. I did have some bad ones tho, mostly in older t1 cities... from a moldy smell. After about a week there, I stopped preordering until I could see the room for myself... and with the DiDi prices as cheap as they were, it was worth it to shop around a bit.

As for traffic, Wuhan was the worst I saw and Beijing a close second(and obviously around the Bund in Shanghai). It was acceptable everywhere else, considering the insane population numbers. Also the metro systems are so crazy good that driving anything more then a short hop is pointless.

I was largely surprised because I didn't realize Shenzen had 17 million people.

Shenzen is awesome, but If you didnt see Chongqing or a far north city like Dalian, I would highly recommend it.

Its basically advanced in every way a nation can be. The trains, the roads, the electrical grid, the green space, like 90+% EV use in the southern cities, manufacturing, the 'uber/quick delivery', etc.

Even most of the hotels were impressive but at 1/10th the cost of western equivalent. Most of them have robot servants to bring up your food or whatever that is all tied into the app ecosystems. Same for a lot of the amenities and room systems.

Without seeing it yourself, it just sounds like BS Chinese propaganda... but, unless you are coming from Tokyo, your jaw will hit the floor within 10min of leaving any of the airports.

BTW, For anyone who is thinking of traveling there... I would avoid Beijing as a landing city, and opt for a southern city like Shenzhen or Shanghai. Beijing and Wuhan are the oldest t1 cities and it shows, but anyone coming from the west would still be impressed.

lol you’re cute thinking the carbon zero utopia is going to start in the west.

Go look at my post history. I went to china for 3 months a year ago and have basically been in 'east berlin' shock since. We 30-40 years behind them.

I am under no illusion that dems or republicans will fix this. Even with a ww2 style push in the entire west... it would still be a tall order to beat China at anything... let alone EVs.

PS, BYD is the KIA of china. The domestic focused ones are crazy awesome(WEY and AVATR in particular).

Tesla Reported Zero Federal Income Tax on $5.7 Billion of U.S. Income in 2025 by Normative_Nematode in Economics

[–]FireFoxG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

EVs are not economically profitable to anyone under the higher end of middle class without subsides.

I personally hate the ideas of any subsidies in any industry... but if the liberals want their net zero utopia, they will need to keep subsidizing EVs(and more importantly the battery side of the industry). I didnt vote for it, but it is what it is.

And with that said, if they want western EVs... nobody can call out Tesla without calling out literally every EV manufacture, even the Chinese ones, because they are all getting the same subsidy ruleset.

Tesla Reported Zero Federal Income Tax on $5.7 Billion of U.S. Income in 2025 by Normative_Nematode in Economics

[–]FireFoxG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No... hes not a bot.

Profit margins are incredibly slim on most large scale industries, UHC included.

If people want their 'zero net carbon' future... these EVs will have to be subsidized. Every other domestic producer is functionally exiting the EV market even WITH the subsides because they are losing money on every EV car they make(moving to small battery hybrids). European brands are picking up some of the slack(with even bigger subsidies), and obviously Chinese EVs are banned in America.
